Really. When you think about it. It is basically all based on opinion, the knowledge of the creator/'s, and is most definately open to bias and favoritsm. Whether people want to admit it or not, you never see a p4p list that is accurate and in line with your views and beliefs.
ive been saying this for years, people who actually argue over other peoples list dont realize its an empty argument
Not necessarily. No one is perfect, and some people might have left fighters off, or rated others too high, that only good argument can convince them was done mistakenly. You can ultimately disagree, but if you aren't open to having your opinions changed then what are you doing on a discussion forum?

Of course it's all based on opinion, you obvious man. But why does that automatically make it "a joke"? Are all opinions jokes? Some are, those that are based on ignorance, biases, or a general lack of intelligence or ability to analyse what one is watching. Others most certainly are not.
The Ring P4P list is compiled by most of the best sports writers in the business, men with large bodies of experience, trained to weigh everything before coming to a conclusion. Therefore the Ring P4P list is generally considered the most authoritative. That doesn't make it right, of course, because nothing subjective is ever inherently right. It can only be argued to be so. But any P4P list that provides similarly well argued reasons for their choices and omissions shouldn't be dismissed either.
P4P lists give us a good guage on whom many boxing fans consider to be the best in the sport, regardless of weightclass, nothing more.

every form of ratings/rankings are based on opinion , genius.
LOL P4P is a load of ****. A clearly subjective measure to which people cling onto like it's some precious understanding in their lives - in realtiy it's a load of ****
In otherwodds it only counts if your boy is on top.People used to fall 3-4 places just for taking an easy fight while someone else won a tough fight. Now people can take a year vacation or fight 2 cherry picks and not even worry about losing a spot. Just go back and look from 1990 up until today and be amazed at how stagnant it has become over the last 5 years or so.
I think the influx of fanboys the past few years has caused the P4P list to get quite a bit more attention than it used to. It has also become quite stagnant in recent years, 10 years ago there used to be massive fluctuations on it on a yearly basis because it was based on who you were fighting and how well you did against them. Now it is seemingly based on name alone. If anything it has become more meaningless while at the same time had more importance placed upon it by the casual fan.

Yeah but will enough people.agree.with that opinion.to make it.count. for the most part I don't see any radical differences in most credible lists including that of hard core fans as well as experts.and.historians. lb for lb.list should count.because it is a consensus opinion. If a jury of 12 can sentence a man to death, 10000 boxing fans can certainly agree on a lb for lb
its definitely hearsay, and imo its probably shouldn't hold any weight in anything other then making all time lists. its a myth alot of people involved in boxing have pushed though, and lots of people have bought the propoganda, but i don't think anyone truly believes pac may or martinez would stand a chance against the klits.
Small weights like welterweight is a lot faster and requires a lot less energy to throw. That's why they seem a lot more skilled than heavyweights for instance.
