Can JMM campaign in another weight class?

Pacquiao didn't move up to welter at 38 big difference plus I don't think Marquez would want to drain anyone.

We all know that he is the lightweight champion of the world. And give Pac the edge in their 1st two fight and the last controversial fight. And we know he can get that JWW belt if he wants too but there isnt enough money. Can he do what Pac has done? Like in WW division. Is it risky for his health at this stage of his career? Can he beat the following: Cotto Margarito Clottey Berto Ortiz Mosley We all know he cant do what pac has done to some of top welter. But i know he can sure he can box them but is it too critical for him to fight them? Or he can just only fight pac but not other top welters for there are less money and too risky? pacquiao isnt a true welterweight.

I think it'd be stupid to say he CAN'T, but I don't think he could take over another division. What happened with Pacquiao was a style thing, and while he would obviously be good at 140, the next division up, I could see more than a few of the better fighters beating him.

Just because Marquez almost beat a lightweight campaigning at welterweight, now he can beat a real welterweight. Those guys are just too big for Marquez.

JMM should not take that risk at WW. It's one thing to beat Pac, whom he is already very familiar with, but it's another to beat Ortiz and Berto, who are both are in their physical prime. He does have the skill and experience to make it interesting, but I just feel that it's unnecessary. I think he can still be successful at 140, but 147 is asking for too much. At least he's saying that Bradley is an option if the Pac fight falls through.

He is champion at Lightweight. He can be a champion at Light Welterweight with fighters like Matthysse, Guerrero, Morales, and Bradley. Then he can try and be a champion at Welterweight with fighters like Malignaggi, Alexander, and Senchenko. I doubt he does any of this though. He has like a year left before he retires (makes a decision to retire that is).

yeah it is a catch weight but it is legit. you take it away from pac that they are defeated by one little man. He's already "campaigning in another weight class" just by fighting @ Lightweight. And he's already proven that he can compete @ Welterweight by defeating the #2 Welterweight in the world. He just can't compete with THE BEST Welterweight in the division. If he were to fight any of the top guys @ 147 and lose, it would be likely based moreso on the particular stylistic matchup and/or his age, as opposed to weight. But i would favor Marquez over all of the top Welterweights outside of Mayweather. Which is what everybody was saying prior to Pac's fights with De La Hoya & Cotto. You see how that turned out, didn't ya? Skill/Technique > Miniscule weight differences thats from a floyd fan point of view. so that is pac. pac is the smallest WW around and the best competetive one. any mexican fan there wanted to see their ATG guy fight at welter?
