I think Berto has it in him to end the fight early, he just needs to show the hunger to do it this time.imo
berto is the last person in the world to have any hunger at all. they have been feeding him bums for 1 mil. paydays, now that he's faced some tougher opp. he looked less than stellar.
i'm not sure that his motivation will be a lot more than to show up and hope that there is a wimpy ortiz in the other corner. what really bothers me is that berto relies too much on his opponents sucking, rather than improving his own game.
when ortiz beat him he accused ortiz of taking illegal substances, despite the fact that he gassed in the late rounds, lost his legs occasionally and just barely survived it to the final bell.
zaveck could also hit him at will with 41% accuracy, and that should be cause for concern to berto and his team. particularly if they want a floyd fight in the future. floyd would probably have a career high connect rate on berto.... 60% and up.
If Berto inside game is still huggy bear I pick Ortiz. The fact is Berto can't fight on the inside he looks to grab instead of punching.he let the fight slip away on the inside.
Berto fought a bum his last time out and looked all but impressive. Ortiz, on the other hand, gave Floyd a decent fight until he lost his composure and fouled Floyd.
This will be a war of attrition. If Ortiz comes with the same mind-frame as the first one, then Berto is going to have real issues on his hands. It was a back-and-forth fight for the 1st half of the fight, but then Ortiz's superior will and stamina took Berto's heart.
Bushbaby, I got 10M on Ortiz. PM to confirm
Confirmed, siggin it right now!! Good luck!!:boxing:
This will be a war of attrition. If Ortiz comes with the same mind-frame as the first one, then Berto is going to have real issues on his hands. If Ortiz is able to channel the energy from his Floyd fight and come back "like a man possessed" lol, then it doesn't matter what form of Berto shows up. It was a somewhat back-and-forth fight, but then Ortiz's superior will and stamina took Berto's heart. The only thing that Ortiz needs to do this time around, is throw to the body more often. I'm sure Garcia will get him into the mental shape he needs to be in.

I thought Berto looked very off in the first fight; he was lazy, didn't look like he wanted to fight and allowed himself to be pushed around. Even still, he floored Ortiz twice and came very close to stopping him.

you know what we'll hear if berto wins, ortiz was on roids first time, bertos only loss was cause guy was on roids, when i wouldnt be surprised if Berto is using something this time
As Dedication said, Berto needs to stay off the ropes, if he can do just that...it would make a world of difference. I see Berto's been training his legs too. If you guys pay close attention to what happened against Ortiz in the first fight, you'll see that every time Berto was close to getting his legs back, Ortiz would crack around the temple area and Berto's legs would look weak again. Ortiz never allowed him to fully recover. We'll see...
I didn't see anything from Berto in the Zaveck fight that shows me he can change the result IMO. He still seemed like he was bit fatigued before it got stopped. Could be wrong, but I think Berto's desire to win impressively could be a problem more than help him. Slugging is exactly what Ortiz wants and is his best chance to win. But I really just want a great fight.
^^^You hit the nail on the head. I believe that Berto plays right into Ortiz's style, they both like to BANG, and Ortiz is better at that. Berto's new "conditioning" won't make much difference because it's not gonna stop him from getting hit, as evident by what happened in the Zaveck fight. Ortiz will apply much more athletic than Zaveck and he'll be able to apply more pressure. The only way Berto wins this fight is by making it ugly, punch punch and then hold. But I don't even think he has the skill-set to do so, not that Ortiz is a prodigy, but when it's all said and done, if both guys with a high level of determination, I think Ortiz has what it takes to get the W.
We don't know how Victor will perform straight off of a ko loss to Floyd without a confidence builder.
Also he went into the Berto fight with a real point to prove about his courage ect, he was a big dog in that fight and fought like he was possesed! Can he do it again???
I think so, Berto is still just Berto
He really did not look good against Zaveck.
I think Berto was very lucky that the eye damage occured because if that fight went the full 12 I think Zaveck had more than good chance of winning.
It was certainly gonna be a fight! Zaveck made a fan out of me that night, nice guy, good fighter, big heart and of course that classic moment when he learned how bad the cut was - "FUUUUCCK!"
Ortiz really just put it on him for the most part last time, took him out of his game plan, out muscled him, out lasted him and out punched him
That should be enough to confirm the same will happen again but i confess i have the feeling a turnaround result could be on the cards, Berto probably didnt give Ortiz the respect he should have last time (he damn sure will now) and with his new training programme and nutritional team he should be in better shape stamina wise ( though he didnt look too much different vs Zaveck imo)
Still i dont trust my "feeling" anymore, i'll stick with facts and Vic beat his ass handily Knockdowns aside
Ortiz UD

the way i see it, berto is a 6 round boxer. if he can't beat someone in the early rounds it's gonna be tough for him. berto has fought a few tough 12 rounders in the past.
ortiz also won the last rounds, and knowing that they desperately tried to stop zaveck before it came to late rounds.
ortiz by dec in 12
I don't think he will.
I don't really think Berto has the ability to beat someone like Ortiz.
Berto's not a good boxer and is not going to outbox him, and on the flipside if he bangs with him (By bang it will most likely end up being Berto throwing 1 punch at the time and when that doesn't work he'll be bamboozled and lay on the ropes like last time) it will go the same way as last time.
I think this fight will look a lot like the first fight. I just don't think Berto has what it takes to beat Ortiz. Unless he lands a big punch and hurts him like last time but this time takes him out. That's the only way I see him winning.
I'll be rooting for Berto and hope he knocks Ortiz out.
But I'm thinking Ortiz by similar UD.
