So Who Has Cotto Beaten To Be The Top Guy At 154???

If Kirkland beats Molina he would have a solid argument to be #1 Wins over Vera, Julio, Angulo and now Molina. Solid Resume at 154.

Yea, he's just number one by default. Honestly, if Cotto and Canelo fought(#'s 1 and 2 in the ring's rankings) I still wouldn't believe either one of them would deserve the Ring belt.

the funny thing is james kirkland and erislandy lara have the most impressive performances in the lat year or so. so i think one of those guys should be ranked above cotto. with that said the king of 154 is sergio martinez. hes the best fighter in both divisions. When was the last time Martinez even fought at 154? like 3 years ago? He's a middleweight now, get over it. Its like calling Pac #1 at 140 because he beat Hatton for the lineal title, which happened in more recent time then Sergio's last fight at 154:rofl:

Neither Margarito nor Mayorga had any reason to being rank top 20 in the division let alone top 10. So when you think about it and that that under consideration. There is no question, that there is no absolute kingpin of the division. You can say he wins by default but It should be well respected thoe. He desever the recantion as the top. The division is what is and we have to wait and see how it pans out.

Cotto beat Foreman who was ranked #6 at the time after beating Daniel Santos after that he beat Mayorga and Margarito and all his 3 wins have been by KO and he has lost a max of 3 rounds in all those fights combine. So when you think about it and take under consideration the guys below him there is no question he is the kingpin of that division. I wouldn't argue martinez beating all those guys. I love the division though, tons of entertaining guys and so many potential great fights. They just need to start fighting eachother. Multiple thing with this post. Martinez hasn't fought at 154 since Feb of 2009. Kirkland had a great win over Angulo, but Angulo himself is not a title holder and only had one fight in over a year. Lara, while I do agree was an impressive performance, at the end of the day still got the Loss and williams wasn't a title holder either (and was coming off a brutal KO loss himself). Too add Lara didn't look impressive earlier in the year against Molina who was coming off almost a years layoff. And, it's not like Molina is a scrub but that has to be taken into account also. Like I said, talent wise the division is pretty solid. But, accomplishments, resumes/wins in the division it's pretty mediocre with every single top 10 fighter.

You bring up a good point but the fact are Lara lost he also doesn't have a belt.kirkland just rejoined the 154 division after be ko at 160 .sergio can only be ranked at the weight he fights.
