I think if Peterson and Riis were to fight I would favor Peterson. The reason I would have to favor Peterson is that he is more versatile. Plus we all know he can adjust very well. The biggest factor is that Rios won't have 15lbs over Peterson. It will be a good hard fight but I see LP winning a wide UD it will be Cotto vs Margo 2 .
Cotto doesn't have big power at 154 he was able to beat Margo
He beat Margarito because of a pre existing injury.
Like I said I think Peterson vs Rios ends up looking like Malinaggi vs Hatton
This is yet another great great fight that could be made. What a war this could be. Lamont would try to box but Rios would suck him into an epic brawl. Think I'd have to go with Lamont but wouldn't surprise me much if Brandon took it. By KO either way. Our mighty and omnipotent boxing overlords really should make this fight. Cmon...don't be f@gs...:boxing:
Peterson simply doesn't have the power to keep Rios off. Rios stops him after an accumulation of punishment
this is what i would have as my prediction as well. my guess is that rios is stronger at 140, but we'll have to wait and see.
I see your point but we can't grasp what Rios power be at 140. If history proves anything most boxer lose pop when they move up. Look at Tito monster power at 147 great power at 154 good power at 160. Rio is not a big puncher he is more of a Margo type. I can see this be a similar repeat of Acosta Fight . Just thinking of this fight making my mouth water loo
Tito brutally KO'd people at all 3 weights.
Rios would take Peterson's heart and KO him around the 9th round. He will NOT go to war with Rios. If Pete ran the few times Khan uppercutted him, Rios uppercuts will finish him.

However, Rios is literally dying making weight, it will benefit him a lot more if he moves up. I've heard He has sparred with 154-160lb guys, and that's why i think Robert Garcia is confident with that move, just that Rios has put so much work in, they need to fight for another belt before they move up.
RIOS WINS...to much credit has been given to Peterson over his hair thin (I thought he lost the fight) victory over Khan. Peterson has been knocked down by bradley, ortiz, and khan. Kudos for having the balls to get back up and finish the fight against all of those top class fighters. Rios on the other hand is another breed! He knocks you down he will finish you. He will be even STRONGER at 140. He will not have to struggle with weight which is a positive not a negative.
RIOS BY BRUTAL KO~!

well we have to see Rios at 140 1st I feel Rios would get exposed at JrWW but then again Rios style is too dangerous for Lamont who has no real power, If I was Arum this is the 1st fight I will put Rios in at 140
I agree arum should move on this ASAP it will the best way to get two belt and really build a solid name for Rios. It's a winnable fight for Rios but I got feeling it going to be a rude awakening for him
Keep disscuing fools

You people keep saying Rios won't know what to do with Lamont on the outside. Lamont simply doesn't have the power to keep Rios on the outside.
I think this fight ends up look like Hatton vs Mallinaggi except it ends a few rounds earlier
Peterson takes Rios to school. Wide UD
I don't see how pple think Rios will steam roll him. I see a major wide ud it will be the fight Acosta should fought. Acosta gave up to much ground
I will leave my take on what i think about rios vs lamont (which was addressed to another poster)
people think that rios will have a better chance because of his win against anthony.
but the peterson brothers do not fight identical. on the outside they have a identical stance. thats it. lamont has a better jab, much better head movement, much better stamina. the problem with anthony on the outside is he's not good on his toes (or slipping punches) anthony peterson has little to NO fundamentals on the outside while lamont has a vast amount. anthony peterson is more of a knock off of lamont, lamont is also much more relaxed then anthony. anthony is always screaming & trying to out muscle you. lamont follows the game plan for 12 rounds & makes the proper adjustments to beat you.....so no. they don't fight identical. similar stance, but thats where it ends. also I'm not sure that anthony even has more power then lamont. in fact i think lamont has more power then anthony because lamont's fights are at a higher weight against MUCH tougher competition. anthony also don't know what a body shot is, while lamont RIPS them.
& heres the NUMBER ONE THING THAT SEPARATES LAMONT FROM ANTHONY. anthony has actually fought no one besides rios........he's really still kind of a prospect. lamont has fought everyone. bradley, khan, cayo, ortiz.
but back to rios..........i see this as a easy fight for lamont because i feel that rios won't know what to do with lamont on the outside, & lamont will mix it up on brandon. he'll pick at him on the outside & come in on the inside & get the better of him & then go back to picking at him on the outside.........heres the thing with rios. rios needs distance. i don't buy at ALL that rios is a better inside fighter vs lamont. i think rios likes to be CLOSE TO HIS OPPONENT. but that's not inside fighting....that's just letting your hands go when you close the distance. being in your chest & letting off 5 shots to the body (while stepping to the side & wacking you with a right) thats inside fighting. you can also smother & turn your opponent on the inside & wack at him when he least expects it (which is another thing that lamont loves) thats fundamentals.........lamont is very fundamentally gifted. he does a lot of little things. he can walk forward while slipping all of your punches for goodness sakes........fundamentals.
i don't think rios will be prepared for lamonts inside & outside game.........also if lamont finds out that one thing is working through out the fight, he won't feel a need to make further adjustments. if he feels like he can just jab rios to death from the outside. he'll do that for 12 rounds. you are a true critical think my good boy. You don't see as black and white I agree with you on many point . Green k given
