From Fightnews :
With his rematch ending in an anti-climatic fashion, Margarito mentioned that what might be next for him is an obvious ending to the trilogy.
“I was told that they would like to do a third fight because I think that not even they were happy with the ending and obviously I am not happy with the fight,” Margarito said of the possibility of a third meeting between the two. “I think they were left unsatisfied and we are going to talk to my promoter. Cotto had said that if he didn’t fight in New York, if I wasn’t licensed in New York, that he wouldn’t fight. He said he had signed to fight in New York and the the didn’t want to give me the advantage fighting anywhere else. He felt he had the advantage fighting in New York. They are seeing if there is a possibility to do a return match in May or June. I would love to do it because I didn’t leave satisfied.”

It won't make money, and it doesn't really make sense.
Sure they're 1-1 but it's really 1*-1, that asterisk is there whether the Margarito fans like it or not. Cotto proved a lot by beating him in a one-sided fight that he's far superior.
Margarito doesn't adapt, he bring HUEVOS to the ring, pressure, and stamina, once they nullify that it's over.
I wouldn't mind seeing it maybe as both of their farewell fight in 2013 or something, but Cotto can make big moves and climb the ladder still, why waste time on Margarito now?..he left no doubts who the superior man was on Dec 3rd by shutting his ass out.
Proven fact is that Margo's eye is damaged. It will get swollen again. Why even bother.
So much for all the BS experts saying that Margo had Cotto mentally dominated and insecure.
Margo is finished and Cotto is his last big money fight.
Cotto closed this chapter of his career. No need for a third fight. If cotto came out and said this, I might believe it. But since it's Margo, I don't believe it. I'm pretty sure this doesn't happen, but I wouldn't be shocked.
That is completely true at 140/154. At 147, dude did fight some top guys. Funny thing one of his biggest wins in his career has been against a guy Margarito beat years earlier.
But Arum was doing the matchmaking so you can't praise Cotto for chasing the best.

Cotto beat Mosley who rape Margarito so stop the bs. Cotto is levels above Margarito and he proved that on dec 3.
another in house fight? I did not see that coming...I just did not
NEITHER DID I

That was different! Quintana won a clear desicion the first fight and lost by KO in the 1st round so there was need for a third fight to find out who the better men was. In this case the first fight was a close fight that Cotto dominated early and lost because he got tired(I think he got cheated but let's not talk about that). On the second fight Cotto dominated and didn't make any of the mistakes he did on the first fight. Cotto adjusted and found a way to deal with his pressure to the point Margarito bearly hit him with uppercuts and Margarito on the other hand can't adjust so he will fight the same way over and over again. All Margarito would get in a third fight is a bigger ass whooping.
Cotto got stopped. It wasn't a one shot KO either, he got worn down and then quit. That's not what I call close.
cotto taking this fight would essentially signal the end of both of their careers to me. it does seem that cotto is no longer in the hunt to be the best in and around his division. hes payday hunting, which is cool, but this fight is trash.
Cotto has never been on the hunt to be the best, he just fought whoever Arum put in front of him.
Funny how all of a sudden Cotto wins by "doctor stoppage" it seals the deal to be the mother of all revenges. :lol1:
Cotto won all 9 rounds, busted his ****ed up eye and destroyed Margarito reputation because it doesn't matter if you like it or not the world is now sure Margarito cheated the first fight because that is all the HBO crew would talk about. They buried Margarito's career and the post fight interview of Cotto where he said "I am still standing" and Kellermen telling Margarito "Your punches didn't seem to have the same effect on him this time" was the only revenge I needed or Cotto needed. They destroyed his reputation and it was sweet to see the truth come out.
Cotto handed Margarito his ass, as much as I think Margs was coming on when they stopped it I wouldn't be interested in watching him take another one sided beatdown, Both fighters need to go there seperate ways now

Funny thing is when it involves a PR you guys are quick to say trilogy. REmember Quintana? Quintana took Williams to school and got knocked out. You along with me was agreeing there should be a trilogy on that fight. Not much of a difference from that fight to Marg/Cotto. Fact is they're both 1-1 AND it makes $$$$. But like I said, Margarito should have a tune up first to see where that eye really stands because I think the NY commission exaggerated with their response.
