So he fought Froch with a broken hand. Dude scares me.
The injury is known as a 'boxers fracture'. Ward risks permanent handproblems unfortunately.
I really don't like Ward, there is something about him that turns me off about him, but there is no way to deny that he is a world class fighter and him fighting not at 100% reflects that.
Even with his hands at 100% he doesn't have K.O power.
This is boxing, pretty much every legit boxer in the history of the sport has hand problems. The human hand wasn't meant to be balled up in a fist and used a club.
I had the boxer fracture and never went to the hospital. My hand looks all fuked up now because of it. It's very painful and will bother you for the rest of your life.
He should be ok because he's getting top of the line treatment.
Good stuff cuauht.
I read on another site (possibly badlefthook) that Ward's hands would require treatment in the same way as Mayweathers if he is to avoid problems.

panda's always wondered about what ward would do to his opponents if he had power. not very many boxers continue their knock out streak with this level of opposition. dawson, froch, williams, khan, taylor and many more would serve as prime examples
It isn't broken if it is fractured.
I have had fractures and they do hurt, but not that much. In fact I messed up my wrist in a bike crash 2 weeks and 5 day. It has healed now but hurts a little if pressured.
Now a break is different. He would be crying.
a fractured bone is the same as a broken bone. you probably had a sprain.
according to an interview last night he injured it in one of his final sparring sessions hitting a guy high on the head
i think he was ten days from the fight
they got an x ray and it didnt show any breaks
then in the 6th round he landed a hook and said it was pretty much done from there
obviously he didnt stop throwing the thing (and probably didnt break both bones in one shot, but who knows)
the kid is a monster
now we know why he uses those big fluffy pillow gloves he uses (which clearly have something to do with his lack of finishes as well)
lets hope he heals well and gets a soft touch in oak city
there's no reason to into any situation where an injured hand will lead him to a setback or a loss (the way rushing to a bute fight might)
