If him and Arreola are the best that can be found for next year then the heavyweight division is really dead, and I've been defending it for a few years now.
Actually I'm being harsh to Arreola here. At least Chris has some pop and doesn't look like Shaq O Neil just stepped out of retirement for a celebrity boxing match.
Thompson was average in his prime. He's declined drastically since then.
Here's Thompson in his last fight against Maurice Harris:
Wow! Look at that handspeed! Blistering!
Jesus Christ... :nonono:

I'd rather see Wlad fight some top cruiserweights like Cunningham or Wlodarczyk. Hell I'd even prefer a Haye rematch than this crap.
Tony Thompson actually makes comeback Foreman look fast.
Thompson looked like he was fighting in slow motion in his last fight against Maurice Harris i.e. he looked like sh1t. Wlad will have no problem beating Thompson again because nothing has really changed since their first encounter.
Also, can't fault Wlad for taking this fight as it is his mandatory (IBF)...
This fight is an outrage, nothing has changed Thompson still doesn't have enough punching power to win the bout case closed. A rematch with Haye would be alot more reasonable than this ****, jesus if the HW divison is really eroded to this point fight Kimbo.
Thompson will help to keep Wlad busier this year. I hope to see him fight three times in 2012.
i look forward to this fight. thompson is a fresh 40 in boxing terms. i think wlad will win but i'm interested to see if thompson will do better healthy. i don't like excuses after losses but he is one of the few getting another chance at a title so i want to see him take risks & go after him like sanders did. he doesn't have sanders speed but he's big & is a southpaw so it could be interesting.
