In the future I think Ward can work on his right hand, and then be damn near perfect. shane mosley should work with him on developing more one punch power, he would be knocking these guys out everytime
In the future Froch needs to keep his left higher, feint/move side to side more to find his angles. he was barreling down the center and just swinging at air too much. his coach HAS to correct that, its unacceptable
He's come out and said he hurt his right in the 6th.
The OP is partially right; obviously earnie shavers power is a born with trait but you can work on power but like someone mentioned above wards throwing the punches correct. Maybe some of them Ariza shakes could help him out ;-)
Ward's right hand doesn't stand out to me either. His left hooks seems to be the money punch. Shane's looping right hand doesn't seem like something Ward should adopt. He'd be better off perfecting the straight right hand.
Ward has been boxing nearly his entire life, and you think getting tips from Mosley is going to help him develop more power? LOL. Dude its either you have or don't have real power, clean cut and simple - technique can only go so far and Ward's throwing punches like he should be.
Ward can keep getting better for years to come. He's a special talent.
I don't think Froch has much of a future. He's already used pure heart and toughness to take himself far beyond where his talent and skills should limit him. He's peaked.
I could see him with the same footwork, hands high tight defense but being able to bang like an Emile Griffith. he has years to improve the weaker parts of his game, power being one of them
I threw off this whole thread by mentioning mosley
let me start over and speak the language of NSB
wouldnt ward be a beast if he developed more power in the right?
Shane should help him work on his power?
IM sorry but power is one of those things you either have or you dont, just like speed. You're not gonna gain KO power while in your prime
agreed
i think shane was just a freak of nature, imo if someone like floyd mayweather snr had a young SSM in his hands he would make a ATG out of him. imo SSM's father didn't give shane the basic schooling all boxers should get.
anyways i think its really hard to look at ward and say he should improvide this or that. this uy is near enough the complete package and makes use of whatever physical gifts he has as well.
as for froch, that guy has more holes than a sieve.

I just thought of Shane because I'm assuming he would be in southern CA near andre. Whatever your ideas about inborn power may be, do you think that if a top pro decided to bring in an expert, take a few and focus on improving one facet of his game he would make zero progress?
and secondly, i feel ward may be just entering his prime. he can still improve leaps and bounds. mark my words, he will look like a more complete fighter ina few years. they need to work the "amateur" out of him, if he sits down on that right and works his ass of at it he will have KO power in it. think of how dominant floyd's right hand became as he matured, even though it wasn't bad in the first place.
