I am not a RJJ fan by any stretch. I saw B-Hop fight ODH and Trinidad live. I love BHop. But until he wins the HWT championship RJJ must be considered greater.
Yeah it was John Ruiz but I don't think people give RJJ enough credit for that win.
Seeing as how Roy was on steroids at the time it's hard to misunderstand how that could be the case.
There are question marks over whether BH is on anything. Cos he isnt ageing. He should be losing stamina, and strength but is not.
No sign of deterioration physically and has only droppped slightly, fights like a young man.
He tested positive for Andro, which WAS sold at GNC, and also was considered to be considered a steroid at the time by the IBF, which is why he got in trouble.
But you could walk into a mall and buy it. Not now, but then you could.
There are chemicals in Jack3d that are banned from boxing governing bodies, yet you can walk into the mall it right now.
They might be/are chemicals in Jack3d that are banned from boxing governing bodies. But, I doubt it has any anabolic steroids.
Roy made many excuses on why he tested positive. Fact is he tested positive for anabolic steroids, buy ripped fuel was an excuse.
It doesn't matter to me anyways. I don't hold that against him either. Like I said plenty of boxers are on something. Even many of Roy opponents.
None of that takes anything away from Roy accomplishments IMO.
Roy took anabolic steroids. You can't buy that at GNC. But, at the same time boxing is a dirty sport, who knows how many fighters are taking PED's. There has been talks of Hopkins taking PED's for years now. And, I wouldn't be surprised one bit if he has.
Now to the question, I give the slight edge to Roy...But, it's very very close.

Those fights were very close i thought Toney wont both.
Roy always had a false excuse for tougher competition.
IDK what you're talking about but he fought the winner of Toney-Griffin. Not quite the "making Toney do everything for a rematch" that you said before.
Whos greater and why :boxing:

Who wanted to see a Trinidad-Hopkins rematch ?
Jones fought the guy who beat Toney twice. No getting around that .
Many people did at the time. Styles make fights you should know this. Plus why didnt Roy want another big payday vs. Toney? Roy wasn't sure he could beat him again. Montell was beaten before he even entered the ring, Roy had that Tyson effect on some fighters, but he knew he didn't have that with Toney. Roy is similar to Mayweather a lot of what ifs in his career.
Look the other way on the steriod accusations and Roy could have been an ATG, whats weird about Roy is just how fast and hard he feel from being such a great fighter. Many people point to the steriods others to the Ruiz fight.

Toney wanted that Roy rematch badly. Roy wantede Toney to jump through fire to get the rematch, just a shame the rematch never happened. People talk about fighters being proctected Roy wanted no rematch. But even Hopkins didn't want the Trinidad rematch, even when they both would get loads of money for the rematchs.

Walk through the fire = Beat Montell Griffin.

All time, I have to say B-Hop. He dominated for a longer time and had the more impressive wins and resume.
Roy Jones was a great fighter of his time but he suffered from not really having any significant wins against top opponents other than B-hop and Toney but they were very young in there career and those fights where never rematched and I think that hurt his legacy.
Even though the poll is going the way it's going, I think most boxing historians would put B-hop above Jones in the all time ranking list because of what he's done after 35 yrs of age.
Roy Jones get's a lot of credit because he was so dominant but that ended when he lost his natural speed. He never had the boxing skill to fall back on the way Hopkins did.

The steriod issue still holds substance. With that said i wish Roy would have done in his prime what he is doing today, fighting anywhere a fight is available to him.
But, he waits till he is past his prime to fight everybody in other countries (Calzaghe still had to come to USA to fight Roy!) . Roy was always afraid to leave Pensicola, USA, a shame. Still remember when Steve Collins went into the ring after a Roy fight to call him out to his face, Roy scared. Calzaghe called out both Hopkins and Roy many years before they fought. Michalnski wanted a piece of Roy, but now Roy would go over seas to fight him. Roy in his prime, fought a lot of fighters that he should not be fighting and didn't fight a handfull of fighters cause he didn't want to go over seas. A man with his talent not confident of his skills unbelivealbe.
