IMO its a good year for the Pinoys compare to last year. In terms of Philippines - Mexican rivalry check this out.
Manny Pacquiao > Juan Manuel Marquez
Nonito Donaire > Fernando Montiel
Brian Viloria > Giovani Segura
Brian Viloria > Julio Cesar Miranda
Donnie Nietes > Ramon Garcia Hirales
When it comes to world title fights. The above ones are for the world title fights.
Mercito Gesta > Ricardo Dominguez
Mercito Gesta > Jorge Pimentel
Mercito Gesta > Genaro Trazancos
Sylvester Lopez > Oscar Ibarra
AJ Banal > Mario Briones
Mark Jason Meligen > Gabriel Martinez
Boom x2 Bautista > Miguel Angel Mendoza
Boom x2 Bautista > Heriberto Ruiz
Denver Cuello > Carlos Perez
etc....
Mexico - Philippines rivalry this year is quite close IMO. Not bad. Before it is all Pacquiao dominating the Mexicans, but this year he has some backups :))))
Milan Melindo > Francisco Rosas
That is ok but Gesta needs to stop cherry picking: Domínguez had 2 loses last year (Zorrita and títere), Jorge Pimentel already had 4 loses in 2010 and 2011, Trazancos had 4 fights in 2010 and 4 loses. Bautista isn´t fighting dangerous mexican boxers either.
Also Sylvester López already lost to mexican goofy montes who is a really serious bum, Aj Banal lost to el torito concepción who is the "son" of el travieso arce, Melligan lost to Michel Rosales, Bautista we know is the son of Ponce the Leon, Denver cuello lost to Juán Hernández, and Milán melindo cmon his last four opponenst carry 24 loses lol.
And why is nietes fighting noobs with 16 fights?, besides nietes lost to a guy who travieso arce just defeated. And you keep bringing the gift decision Pac got against Jmm and Donaire beating much much smaller guys, luckily for him his bigger body let him withstand that right hook Montiel landed first. I´m telling you Donaire is a ***** by not jumping to light weight, he is just the size of JMm and pacquiao... and has bigger reach advantage to boot. Give some confidence to your boy.
Ps.- Viloria had easy fights against an ultra weight drained Miranda and king of bums Segura. Besides he is the son of Omar Niño and Edgar Sosa :-)
Grats to Pinoys and a great year for them in boxing.
Don't care if they're american as long as pac is still fighting he will always be at the top of lb4lb rankings.
I think filipinos did pretty bad, off your list Pac lost last fight in opinion of this forum (there is a poll somewhere 3:1) and in opinion of most people in the world. Donaire did proved that with his size advantage he could take Montiel´s right hook no problem and put him to sleep with his own left hook (that is all), and looked awful against that ultra short argentinean -some say he got exposed-.
Besides pinoys collected this year several looses to their mexican arch-enemies:
Oscar El Ceviche Ibarra > Juanito Rubillar
Raúl Rayito García > Rommel Asenjo
Hernán Tyson Márquez > Edrin Dapudong
Alejandro La flaca Sanabria > Vinvin Rufino
Juan Carlos Martínez > Bernabé Concepción
Ulises Archi Solís > Jether Oliva
Mariana La barbie Juárez > Diana González
Furthermore your best prospect Mark Melligan got brutalized by argentinean Sebastián Luján, also this year.
You did very, very bad.

He moved here when he was 7...how much do you remember from before age 7?
Didn't a bunch of Pinoy go nuts like a year ago and call him a "fake filipino" because he was refusing to borrow/give money to random begging ass extended family members in Philippines? I seem to remember there being a discussion about it on here.
A lot. I know, because I can relate. He moved to the U.S when he was 9.Like me, I moved to Sydney at the of 9.Have been here for 19 years.I can speak Bisaya and tagalog. We never forget. If you read some of Nonito's comments regarding the homeland he metioned his life of hardships, being poor.Which shows he remembers a lot because i can instantly relate to that being from Mindanao myself.
Donaire chose that name son.He is Filipino-American son BTW.Kid was born and lived in the Philipines.Donaire can speak Bisaya and Tagalog .You don't forget where you're from .He moved here when he was 7...how much do you remember from before age 7?

not sure about pinoys but it was a hell of a year for americans......
mayweather over ortiz
tarver over green
hopkins over pascal
kirkland over angulo
peterson over khan
broner & russell jr. over their opponents......
& now we're planing to end the year off with froch vs ward
it's been a hell of a a** kicking from the americans............
Pinoy boxers have done well this year. The quality of pinoy boxers is improving but there is still room for improvement. There aren't any elite trainers in the Philippines like there are in the U.S. and Mexico. A lot of Pinoy prospects lack much defense and stamina. I have noticed quite a few have an inability to take a body shot. Durability, stamina and head movement would go a long way.
The best prospects are Genesis Servania and Froilan Saludar.
Genesis has looked great. He has some head movement and counter punching ability unlike some of the other pinoy prospects I've seen.
My video coverage of Froilan Saludar has been limited by a few video clips on youtube. Do you know where I can find video on his latest fight? Froilan has good power but he seems to lack defense and head movement. But then again I have only seen a limited amount of footage on him.
Donaire chose that name son.He is Filipino-American son BTW.Kid was born and lived in the Philipines.Donaire can speak Bisaya and Tagalog .You don't forget where you're from .
No like Italians, when your Italian your an Italian. Even people say your an Italian American but Italian always gonna come first. I don't know if that makes any sense to you.
Do you honestly think he's going to roll with the name Filipino-American Flash? Plus look how many of the casual fillipino fan base he's garnering. I was arguing against the American flash statement
I know he was born in the PI, he was born in General Santos and lived there for a while before coming to the states.
Because his ethnicity is Filipino.... nationality wise he's American I believe.
Same as my Family... they were born in the Philippines, but since coming here they're American. You can change your nationality, but you can't change your race.... unless you're Michael Jackson

Then why isn't he called the American Flash?

Donaire is pretty much universally liked on here. It has nothing to do with him being Pinoy :fing26: :fing26:
You can tell Donaire would much rather have abilities like Mayweather than Pacquiao...
If you really weren't bothered by the fact that he is Pinoy, you wouldn't be posting in threads like this by constantly posting about them being American. Your bias against one nation is really quite obvious. :fing26:
And once they lose - Donaire and Viloria - Pinoy bums. We know how it's going to play out. Stop pretending like they have a real American following. :fing26:Donaire is pretty much universally liked on here. It has nothing to do with him being Pinoy :fing26: :fing26:

Yeah really. The guy has lived here almost his entire life and even tried out for the US Olympic team but was eliminated by fellow Fil-am Brian Viloria.
Donaire and Viloria - Great American Champions!

Also Rey Bautista knocked out an undefeated mexican 17-0(17 KOs) last weekend.
I don't believe Mark Melligan was the best pinoy prospect at all, whoever said that.
Overall, I believe it was a good year. More upside than down.
Just a simple thread, not sure why people need to start race wars.
Probably should of just posted this in the Pinoy Lounge. Just gonna get haters in here.
:lol1:
woooow
a bunch of unknown pinoy bums losing to mexicans...you mexicans are sooooooo good.
talk about being butthurt:lol1:
Butthurt of what?, only USA is above México when it comes to quality and quantity... and there is a lot of chicanos giving USA tons of belts historically. Besides, mexicans have been doing absolutely fantastic these latest two years and no one has more belt holders than mexico today... usa isn´t even close.
