Simple question really
Smoger and Bayless are recognised by most as two of the best refs in the sport. Would Steve Smoger/Kenny Bayless have deducted 2 points from Amir?
It doesn't matter. Khan was warned various times to stop with the pushing and pulling down. He ignored the warnings so he only has himself to blame for the point deductions.
The REAL question is would they have let Khan off with about 50 constant warnings about:
-headlocking
-holding behind the neck
-tripping and elbowing
-pushing like a playground kid instead of boxing his way out of the inside
-turning his back when he got to the ropes
-hitting on the break
,before they actually give the man a penalty.
Remember, all a ref needs to do is tell you three times to stop fouling before he SHOULD take away points from you.
The ref aint a babysitter. He's not supposed to have to tell you to stop fouling EVERY second of every round.
Not even B-Hop fights so consistently trashy like Khan did that night.
Anyone who actually cares about boxing should be happy Khan was not allowed to do what he was doing because it was ugly as hell to watch and was not good for boxing at all.
Anyone who sticks up for that trash aint no fan of boxing.
I voted NO because that's most likely the case, that they wouldn't have taken two points.
which I have to say that any and all refs should be calling those type tactics, especially how BLATANT khan was in doing them.
he would pull a thai clinch and look to the ref to break them up, he held for dear life and looked for the ref to break them up, it was pathetic that he is a world champ, was a world champ and that is his defense he MOST relied upon the whole fight.
khans' stock went down in my book.
seriously, khan was trying to leap up and pull peterson down all fight long, bottom line he fought the wrong fight, and relied on the ref to do his bidding in stopping the action whenever khan felt like holding, or pulling petersons head down.
it seemed like every left hook khan threw ended up in him trying to crank petersons head down, not the normal throw the hook, cup the head and push the head out the way, it was more like every let hook khan threw was designed to end up in a tie up situation until the ref omes in and resets the fighters..... it's bullcrap and I am finally glad a ref followed the rules and actually refereed the fight.....
if khan isnt' allowed those tactics, he more than likely gets stopped by any top fighter in and around his weight.....
How do you feel about all these posters all of the sudden jumping on the Moreno bandwagon?
I know you were the first one to really rep the guy, but it's good that everyone is starting to see how talented he is as a fighter.
It is what it is, I don't have a problem with it.

I didn't see Peterson fouling at all. What did I miss.
WTF?? u dont see the low blow???
i know khan did it too, but peterson was the first and throwing much more..
Khan had been warned repeatedly during the fight about pushing and holding down Peterson's head.
Quite frankly, it's his own fault. If he were a smart fighter, he'd have adjusted to the situation.
Red K sent for that sig....smh

saying 'stop pushing khan' is to get him to stop pushing in the heat of the fight, he went about taking points inadequately, taking them whimsically instead of calling time and issuing a hard warning, you know, like the competent refs do.
Yeah, it's to get him to stop pushing, duh. It's an infraction. He had been doing it all night. Yes, the ref could've (during one of the countless times that Khan pushed off) given him a "hard warning" but he had been warning him from the word get. Highly irrelevant IMO.
Bayless would of said something like...
"i aint playing around KHAN ill take points away"
this bullsh!t ref didnt even say that.
Are you Deaf? The ref warned him several times. He even told him "THIS IS YOUR FINAL WARNING STOP PUSHING"
I think those two refs would have taken away a point for pushing and a point for holding Peterson's head down. On the second point deduction, Khan had both arms around Lamont's neck pulling down and then pushed him off. You cannot consistently and blatantly push a opponent away or push down on the back of there neck and head when they get to close to you. Khan needs to learn how to fight on the inside instead of just grabbing. In America and Mexico, they want you to box out. And it is not a law to receive a hard warning before taking a point away. I do not know this perception came from.
muscling to the ropes. lol. Khan was muscling off of him, yet he was the only one warned, and incorrectly at that. That's not how you warn fighters before points are deducted. Bad ref.
No, Khan was pushing him off. and got warned plenty. See what you want. Khan has no one to blame but himself.
bayless wouldnt of been so involved in the outcome of the fight. this referee was involved way to much, which is why everyone is talking about him the next day.
Exactly!! why the **** are we all talking about him? cos he did a bad job!!
Smoger and Bayless are more impartial and are more likely to not be seen in the fight, so no, I don't think they would have deducted the points. Last night's ref was very bold in taking away the point in the last round and I actually agree with him taking one away for pushing the head down. Amir will do that for 12 rounds if you let him.
However, I don't think Khan was jobbed last night and I can't say I'm upset with the referee's point deductions. He did his job.
Haha, ever hear the phrase "fight with your head in the guy's chest"? Pretty integral to the sport.
All those poor heavyweights who fought Tyson. They should've been complaining like Khan.
