Make a convincing case for Froch beating Ward.

You betting on that? I was wondering the same thing. :)

Froch is a good experienced boxer with range and a awkward style. He has the power to hurt Andre and his punching style is different. Froch has skill and I enjoy watching the nuance in his style. Andre and Carl are two of my favorites fighters, but I do not see either of them dominating the fight. Could that happen, sure, but I think that could go wither way. Both are capable of putting on dominant performances. But I expect a close fight. Ward should be a slight favorite, but that is as far as I would go. I am just glad they are fighting, because this is the premiere boxing event of the year.

Well, it's not an argument for Froch, but Ward by UD. Something like 9 rds to 3.

That said, you're right that Froch is very good at using his reach effectively, which is why he beat Abraham so easily. But Ward is no Abraham. Froch has: - A good chin - Good power - Heart - The ability to neutralize speed (see Froch vs. Pascal, Froch vs. Dirrell) Ward has been hurt in the past by a non-puncher. He has great skills, but does he have the heart to match Froch? Can he go 12 rounds with a fighter like Froch? The fight isn't in his hometown either.

I think I totally agree, but he is a good salesmen. He lost to Dirrell and was also losing to taylor if not for his lack of stamina. Froch is strong and has a decent chin but who brags about that except for the people with poor defense. The Dirrell fight was very close and could have been scored either way. While the majority of boxing experts scored it narrowly to Dirrell, every one of them said it was very close, and no very close fight can ever be called a robbery. The fact is that he won the fight on the scorecards, and the judges were all from neutral countries. Froch has improved dramatically since the Taylor fight (and since the Dirrell fight). Ward has also improved but less dramatically. And Froch's overall competition to date has been of a much higher standard than Ward's. He definitely has the tools to make it Ward's toughest fight by far, though I expect Ward to win.

Work rate....... Froch's work rate is nothing special. What he does have is a very good ability to judge space and distance; a good jab when he remembers to use it, a great chin, reasonably good footwork, and pretty good accuracy. He also punches very solidly and with very good leverage. He doesn't have one punch knock-out power but he has very good cumulative power.

I think he'll lose but he's a far more accomplished fighter than you believe him to be, and he has fought the toughest competition of any fighter at any weight during the last two years. And he beat Abraham a lot more convincingly than Ward did.

I haven't seen one yet. Would be interested. :boxing: I have only 1 idea on my mind.. The fight isn't at Oakland Anything can happen in boxing and upsets happen all the time. But I would be truly astonished if Froch wins. Ward is far more skilled and versatile - although Froch's skills are under-rated by many.
