it's weird because everytime i go to Staples, i see Magic's statue...then i see Chick's statue and then you see the dinky Oscar statue...like they just dropped it off or delivered it to the wrong place
Hahahaha

Oscar is just lucky he is tight with the people that own Staples or they probably would have been like thanks but no thanks you can have that back~
Margarito was already popular before Cotto. I take it the Staples sold out to see Williams? Lol
Funny how you now change it to two straight considering he fought the same guy who kicked Cotto's ass.
Fact: Cotto was 2-2 at one point in 4 fights. :bottle:
Williams kicked his ass on his turf.
Fact: Marg is now 1-3.... :( since well, you know.
That's right. The Home Depot. But since you're talking about 20 thousand, he did set a record of 20k with Mosley. Something DLH nor anyone else have done.
He set the record why!? Because he was riding off the cotto victory wave!  Not to mention Mosley was a decent opponent with a name also. And he also got his ass kicked on his turf.
Ask yourself how many PPVS he could do now lol.
well he only fought there once...and lost
dont know why he has a freekin statue in front
It is alright that statue has many factual errors engraved into it~ it is like the Rocky statue because it is based on a fictional character.

That is true.

De La Hoya has never had 20,000 people at his fight? You sure about that?

He didn't fight Williams at Staples it was the tennis court at the Home Depot Center, difference between 5ish thousand and 20 thousand.
Cotto at one point was 2-2 and in one several people thought he lost. If Margarito's eye really recovers somehow and with Arum promoting, he could be back. Cash cow next to him? Just know that Cotto just like many prizefighters NEED a dancing partner. Alone they don't really do much.
When has cotto lost two in a row OFFICIALY,not by OPINION?
Before Cotto even fought Margarito he had already made a name for himself.Judah? Mosley? It's Margarito the man that needed Cotto to become popular. There's articles out there that even Margarito has admitted he become widely more popular then ever after cotto. Why do you think he toured around and ate too much? The excuse that he wasn't ready for Mosley :D
...why would anyone want to see a man who is 1-3 today? :lol1: let's face it Margarito will probably never be on a PPV main even again.Cotto is a cash cow next to this guy.
That's how much Cotto did with Judah and Mosley? And, a commercials on your network is not "promoting the shit out of it"
Thanks for clarifying that for me. Rich Cabeza.
My guess is ESPN didn't get a good return on their investment because I don't recall another boxing ppv. But I could be wrong.
Yeah the ESPN fight with Cintron did like 225k. But ESPN promoted the **** out of that.
That's around what Cotto did with Judah and Mosley. And, a commercials on your network is not "promoting the shit out of it"
He had 500k with them put together....
And, Marg did have PPV before Cotto...Independent ones and an ESPN one not on HBO and none came close to what he sold against Cotto.

Hmm. . . maniac i don't know, broseph! cotto was doing 500k buys well before margarito. . . judah and mosley. . . margarito had never had a PPV before Cotto I. . . Pacquiao fight didnt generate as well as Cotto/Pac either. . .
TBH, I'd say it's about 50/50. . .

I don't recall a 24/7 for the first Cotto/Marg fight....surprising that this only did 150K more, with the storyline and 24/7 attached.
The fight itself was nowhere near as relevant this time as it was the first time.
