I used to watch a lot of Whitakers fights, and ya know, i really disliked him. He just had a style that made other guys look awkward or clumsy. But he had a nice streak and won so many of his fights, he was a very clever fighter.
His defence was very good, i think he would do the same thing to Pac, cuz to this day, i never seen a boxer that can make other boxers look so bad and innefective. So i guess that was his strenght, he was able to "dis-able" many other very good boxers. I was so happy when Oscar knocked him on his ass and took his title.
But his style was so unique, like i said, no boxer i have seen to date can do what SP could. He just confused and used every trick in the book to beat his opponents. And he had many "tricks up his sleeve". I may not have liked the way he fought, but what he did, he did it very, very well. I can't take that away from him. It worked well for him for a long time. And i give him full credit.
 I don't remember Ramirez being all that good.
I'm gonna look up the fights and watch them though.
Do you think Alexis Arguello is good? Ramirez arguably deserved the win when they fought, and dropped him in the middle rounds.
Ramirez was a pretty clever fighter.

Obviously not as good as Pac or Whitaker, but still a very solid fighter.
men manny is my fav active fighter, but Sweet pea toys with him for 12 rounds, make him look like a fool......PW is all wrong for manny......WIDEEEEEE UD for pernell........i dont think that ko manny tough.....
I haven't watched a ton of Whitaker fights.. off the top of my head, I don't remember if he fought another really good South Paw?
It's hard to decide since they both are lefties to me.
Jose Luis Ramirez. Dominated him twice.

whoa whoa WHOA !!!! roger a harder puncher than manny??!!!! lmao yeah right !!!!! shane mosley says manny hit way harder than vernon forest !!!! in fact shane who has a cast iron jaw said he has never felt such power in his life !!!!!!! so thta just about ends all arguments about who was more powerful between manny and roger!!!!!! now back to pernell !!!! even the biggest sweet pea fan would admitt he was pucking as much dynamite in his hands as manny so all that jibber jabber is for nothing
if pernell even fought manny like he did mayweather trust and believe he would get knocked out !!!!! manny would hit him with those lightning fast sneakey counters !!!! and have pernell on the ground , and unlike rioger who didnt have the power to put away pernell manny wont make that mistake !!!!!
manny powere litterally broke margaritos face into pieces and margarita is known for having a strong chin !!!!!
Dude. Breathe.
By that do you mean the best fighter he beat, or Chavez best performance in general? If you go by name I would think it would be Camacho, but if you mean his best performance I think it was Edwin Rosario. What fight do you think was his best?
I agree with best performance. Camacho might be the best fighter. If Taylor never ran into Chavez, he coulda been better than everyone else on his resume if that makes sense. But as far as what was actually accomplished, yeah, Camacho makes sense. TBH, Chavez's greatness isn't in one big win, it's in destroying everyone in his path (outside of Whitaker). Slow and steady wins the race, as it were.
Pernell Whitaker was so fucking talented, that he's capable of making me listen to a "Limp Bizkit" song. :lol1:
Amazing video, regardless of soundtrack choice. That video is like porn for fight fans.
Lmao!! Great description, i love it!
Quick, without boxrec! Who's JCC's best win?

A past prime Pernell Whitaker went 24 rounds with De La Hoya and Trinidad, who were young, strong, and knocking every one out. That Pernell would probably beat Pacquiao.
Whitaker by decision.
I don't think Pacquiao can do enough to beat him.
It'll still be an interesting fight worth watching but Pacquiao is too simple to beat someone like Whitaker.
Who takes it, and why?
:D
"talk to my Promoter"
Pernell all the way.
why.
Pac dodges big fights.
Real reason.
sweet can box outside and the inside he's also a very versatile defensive fighter. He'll make it a close war, OR he'll pot shot 'em and box em to a UD.
I couldn't stand Whitaker when he was fighting. Didn't like his style and hated his arrogance. But the guy was incredibly skilled and talented. Not only would I pick him over Manny, I'd pick him over Floyd as well. Im not sure I'd pick anybody to beat Whitaker at 140....maybe Niccolino Locche, and that I wouldn't bet on.

You know what Iron, posters like Check_hooks and treason1 are CLEARLY trolls. I mean, clearly. But then you have guys like puga who really believe of the stuff they spew.I think treason believes the stuff. I think Check_hooks trolls just to take one on the chin for Team Pinoy...as long as he is saying the most ridiculous things, it makes all the actual idiots saying stupid things look a little bit better. He is actually a pretty good poster when he occasionally quits trolling.
i see pernell dipping, bobbing, countering pac all night... sweet pea was AMAZING. and his footwork would get him out of trouble anytime pac would put pressure... pac would get frustrated and rhythm will be disrupted. pernells offense would be enough to win rounds over pac's aggression.
UD for pernell. no doubt.
I'm a Pac fan, but Pernell was a master of distance, dragging that back feet, timing counters, parrying punches. I'd have to favour Whitaker by unanimous decision.
