Helenius won? For real?
I'm sorry but this is the worst robbery I've seen this year. And I even had Marquez beating Pacquiao by a couple rounds.
I don't care much for the heavyweight division. I don't even like Chisora. But Helenius did NOTHING in this fight. Chisora was ripping the body constantly, tying him up on the inside, left hooks and uppercuts to the head again and again and backing Helenius up all night long. And then there was the referee, who was so bias, it was sickening. Like you get hometown bias, and then you get this. On another level.
Helenius ranked 5th in the world? Now I understand exactly why people say the heavyweight division is awful. I rate the Klitschkos really highly, but the division is atrocious if this guy is 5th. I can only hope the up and comers are legit.
If there are any Helenius fans out there, please tell me what Helenius did to win even 4 rounds, let alone the entire fight.
Surely most of you knew it was going to be a robbery from the early rounds though right?
The worst part was the ref. I'm sorry but he should never ref again, I have never seen such bias like that from the opening bell ever.
For an undefeated fighter, Helenius looked painfully average. Chisora is still as sloppy as hell though and for me, mentally, just isn't really there.
Good post. The referree's behaviour was far worse than the decision.
I thought Chisora definitely won the fight. But it wasn't the landslide that some people here seem to think.

This was NO WAY in hell a robbery. The right man won the decision. Helenius did a fantastic job at being stationary and not throwing any punches while getting pounded in his face repeatedly, which last time I checked is how you win fights.
 indeed, he blocked del boys punches with his face and won a very wide sd
This was in no way, shape or form a robbery. According to a lot of posters on this site robberies only happen in the USA, and last I checked this took place in Finland.
Tex Cobb was another disgraceful bout Holmes had -- and Cobb was highly ranked back then, which says a lot.
What, sort of like Mormeck being ranked today? :lol1:
I'm not usually a Klitschko defender, but in this case I'm going to stand up for them. The fact of the matter is that the heavyweight division is so devoid of talent that guys like Chisora are the only vaguely worthy competition. The Klitschko brothers have to fight regularly and they have used up virtually all of the experienced contenders with the exception of Povetkin (who has as much chance as Chisora). They need credible opponents to fight and prospects are about all that's left. Not that I'm looking to **** on a Hall-of-Famer, but Larry Holmes had a pretty similar experience in the 80s. Check out his record and you'll see a lot of undefeated, but inexperienced fighters.
I think the 80's had better talent, but I agree with you in essence and understand. It goes back to what I've been saying for a long time now....the division blows. :dunno:
Yes, you're crazy. You don't argue logically -- you just push your hobby horse arguments in every thread.
I'd still rather see Wlad fight Chisora, who he broke a previous agreement with to fight Haye (and I give Chisora right now a much better chance at beating Wlad than Haye ever had) than Mormeck.
You apparently would rather see Wlad fight Mormeck. That's your perogative, but I don't want to see the fight, personally.
So sue me.
Nah, Mormeck is another crap fight. But my logic runs you and every nuthugger like you out of these threads because you have nothing to argue with.
You still haven't answered my question....why don't you want to see fighters like Helenius and Chisora get the same experience the Klit bros were afforded before fighting for world titles? I already know your answer so here's my rebuttal which is irrefutable.....It's because the division is horrible.

If you take a look at Holmes resume you will see easily half a dozen names that, were they around today, the Klitschkos would get absolutely crucified for fighting.
Imagine Wlad or Vitali fighting Marvis Frazier while at the peak of their powers.
Instead, it was a fairly close fight, with Chisora edging it, IMO. And it was an excellent and exciting heavyweight contest.
No, just no. The most any credible observer can give to Helenius is four rounds, and that is giving him the benefit of the doubt. The fight wasn't close, it was a farcical, bordering on corrupt decision.
I simply don't understand Klit fans wanting to rush opponents like Chisora into fighting them. Vitaly didn't get a title shot till his 25th fight, Wlad till his 36th and he was an Olympic gold medalist. Why the rush to make these less talented guys a title defense before they have any real experience?

Helenius needs to improve his conditioning. One look at him tells me that he needs to do some things differently re diet and exercise, just as Wlad and Vitali had to make changes to improve their endurance by taking up swimming. Helenius obviously has more going for him than mere size, or he'd be Julius Long instead of a rising heavyweight. Helenius was having a problem with the fast pace Chisora set and was able to maintain throughout the fight.
I'd like to see Helenius jettison Wegner, but I doubt that will happen anytime soon.
All that being said, it's funny how extreme boxing fans are. You'd think Helenius had gotten knocked out cold from the reaction of some here.
It was not a hiccup on the scale of what Lennox Lewis and Wladimir experienced.
Instead, it was a fairly close fight, with Chisora edging it, IMO. And it was an excellent and exciting heavyweight contest.
It was a good fight. But it was two inexperienced guys in there with one showing not just weak stamina but a lack of real skills and the ability to go to a plan B. Bottom line is people are hyping fighters based on their size, not on their skill sets.
Chisora already signed to fight Wlad, and if he took the same approach against Wlad that he did against Helenius, would cause him real problems.
Chisora is owed a fight by Wladimir. He's certainly more formidable than Mormeck, who not even Klitschko fans want to see fighting Wladimir.
Chisora is clearly not ready for either Klit. If he were he would have just toyed with the MUCH less talented Helenius. Why would ANY fan want to see Wlad fight a guy with little experience and no top 10 ranking?
Call me crazy, but it's painfully obvious Klit fans WANT there idols to make fights with fighters who haven't fully developed their skills thru experience. This is tantamount to putting Wlad in the ring with Lennox Lewis while he was still developing against Everett Martin...hardly fair or competitive.
I'd like to see Wlad honor his previous commitment to fight Chisora, and forget about Mormeck.

It was not worse than Lara-Williams, not even close to me, but Chisora absolutely earned that decision. Very fine line between a robbery and a hometown gift, I'd lean more towards hometown gift.
I can't see how it was no worse than Lara-Williams, but it was only a "hometown gift"? Lara-Williams was a robbery, Lara clearly won, it is known to be the worst robbery this year, and even the worst in years. So if Helenius-Chisora was on par with Lara-Williams, then it was a robbery, not a hometown gift.
That's right: there is no arguing that. It doesn't apply to this fight at all.
This had very little to do with "size." Chisora simply had a better game plan and was in good enough shape to execute it for the entire fight. Helenius hurt his right hand and had an off night. It happens. Helenius also needs to get into better shape. He was visibly tired early in the fight from Chisora's assault.
Helenius came in the same shape he always does and there lies the problem. When his size couldn't wear his opponent down and allow him to take over he had no plan B.
I've said this for awhile now...these fighters like Helenius, Chisora etc., etc., being proposed as defenses for Wlad are just not ready. They need experience and 16 or 17 fights just isn't going to cut the mustard at the highest level.
Chisora used a great gameplan, he came in in shape, and utilized a nice combo of body and head shots, crowding Helenius and making it hard for him to get his power shots off.
Chisora is not a "bum" -- he was depressed and uninspired when he fought Fury because Wlad had backed out of two fights with him and then chose to fight Haye.
I had Chisora up by a couple rounds against Helenius.
Ironically, the Chisora who showed up against Helenius would have given Wlad a lot more trouble than Haye did....
As for Helenius, not a great night out, but he'll be back. The people on here who write someone off after one mediocre fight make me laugh. Both Lennox Lewis and the K-Bros certainly had some very bad nights, and came back better than ever....
Helenius is an average fighter at best. And that's giving him a lot of credit. He's slow, he's easy to hit, and has bad stamina. If he ever has any real success, it will be because of how bad his competition is.
I shudder to think of the beating either Klitschko would put on him.
I've been watching Chisora since he was an amateur. His performance against Helenius was not his best.
Someone like Helenius will always get outpointed by someone who moves and has good technique as long as they can stand up to the bigger man's jabs.
Helenius did nothing to win the fight. He won a few rounds mainly because of his size, but Chisora is the better boxer - it's absolutely as simple as that.
The fight is in the video lounge and probably still on YouTube if you haven't yet seen it. Go see it for yourself. (Whatever the decision, it was a very entertaining fight.) Say what you like about the fight being not quite a robbery, but, for example, the Sauerland commentators had Helenius 5-1 ahead after six rounds. That was absolutely impossible. Not 1% possible; not kinda understandable if you know what Helenius is trying to do or anything like that; just bull****. Chisora walked through most of the first six rounds as if Helenius was nothing.
I wanna see the final detailed scorecards.
