Training camp is there, but once you get hit, fighter out of instinct usually goes back to what they are accustomed to..
And a jab is important. But a job is also a setup for a power punch.. How is he is gonna set up a "big punch", when he is using his left hand in throwing the jab..
He got hit & still stuck with in saturday.
A big punch doesn't necassarily win a fight. But he has solid power in the right. Jab, jab, righthand, pivot, rinse & repeat. Mix in a left hook or a few, pivot & watch Manny look lost, the key is in movement.
Is it now? Funny because on Saturday, he bacame a clincher & a pivoter. Those were not his style. That's what a training camp is for homey. A jab is definately enough, it's the most important punch in the sport.

Styles makes fight. As simple as that.. Having a jab is not enough.. He needs to work on his right hand lead, which he doesnt have because he is natural left hander who is fighting on an orthodox stand.. You are trying to change Cotto's style, which we all know is too late at this stage of his career.

Cotto is a big fight fighter too. I'm sure he could beat Pacman on points if the fight went the distance. Pacman has gotten softer, or he's become so accustom to fighters standing in his face, movement perplexes him. Cotto can move far better than Mosley & can still throw a punch or 2 & has a elite level jab. he corrected many mistakes against Margarito he can do the same against Pacman. Move more, jab more, do not stand in front of Pacman, he can beat him.

I want this fight soo bad. Cotto saw Marquez beat Pacman with movement. Cotto moved & pivoted perfectly Saturday. He has the size & power that Marquez lacked. I think Cotto beats him should they fight again, no lower than 150.
He's my favorite fighter, but Pac is a whole different animal. Pac's feet are so much faster than his, even if he tried to move like he did tonight, Pac would get to him with his speed. The gameplan he employed tonight would not work against Pacquiao.
Cotto is a left hand dominant fighter which would always be easy for Pac..
And Cotto's guard is always open for uppercuts, which is Pac's favorite punch, apart from the left straight (which is his KO punch)..
And copying Marquez style, even if he could pull it off, is only enough to make it a close fight. And there is no way Cotto can win a close fight over Pac, not with that 100 Million Dollar fight with Floyd still left hanging in the air...

Cotto beaten, Margarito destroyed, why would anyone even care about Pac-Cotto II? These are just filler fights for Pac, until Floyd's A-side finally mans up and brings the contract to the table.

Cotto gets destroyed any given day againts Pacquiao.
It would be better if he takes on FLoyd.
I also dont mind seeing PBF-Cotto but also after PAC-PBF ...
nope. i dont mind cotto vs floyd tho (after pac vs floyd)
same sentiment for me bro, actually I dont mind seeing any other match up after Pac-PBF, Manny could fight Marquez, Cotto, Bradley, Khan, Martinez....
look at this...the Pacfarts are even scared to let Manny in the ring with Cotto again! rofl..."but floyd"....they know manny is shot as hell at this point.
The thing about the Margarito matchup is that Cotto himself knew what he had to correct in order to beat Margarito. The thing with a Pacquiao matchup is that, unlike in the Margarito fight, Cotto has no idea what he has to adjust to beat Pacquiao.. He said it himself after they fought, that he didn't see any of the punches coming.
So if Pacquiao reduced Cotto into playing a guessing game in that he couldn't see any punches coming, he is lifetimes away from even conceiving the thought of how to come up with a gameplan on how to beat Pacquiao.
And then you gotta also consider the facts that he has nothing to attract Pacquiao with for a fight.
It'd be a tough fight but aside from what you mention about drug testing (PED) and weight draining factor Pacquiao had going for the 1st fight we also have to remember the most important factor on that fight, Cotto trained himself for that fight.
Joe Santiago had never been in a fighter's corner for a big fight. Joe Santiago knows **** about boxing, he did what Cotto told him. With Diaz, Cotto would be much more prepared and would actually have a fight plan going into the ring.
@ 147-150 Cotto could give Pacquiao a tough fight and possibly beat him.
Freddy will not dare to put fight vs Cotto in even terms.
