Really, we fans got a pretty good fight. I am Boricua and have to say that Antonio has a ton of heart. I don't like the fact that he did not give any credit to Cotto but I understand because this fight was personal and a TKO loss, to Cotto of all people, is a bitter pill for him. Still, this was a very good fight that provided a lot of interesting situations and drama for months.
Hey, Mexican fans, I give you props for the great 2011 your boxers have had. What about getting some credit for this one? Mexico won this year in quantity but this was, probably, the most interesting and hyped up of the rivalry. Why downplay it? It was a really good fight, which also had drama. All in all, this delivered.
Margarito is an animal, hey, he's legit to me. Cotto had a better gameplan and it showed. Today PR wins, tomorrow maybe it's you. That's all there is to it. The sports rivalry stays fun and we, the fans, win. Give it a bit of thought and you might agree. Take care, fans.
To be honest, I think both guys felt the punches of each other tonight. They just feel so much disdain that they will not give credit to one another. Both know, deep in their hearts, they were in a fight.
Yes, I'm not a fanboy and never will be. I'm glad it was noticed.
Tony moved more from Cotto's punches in this second fight than he did in the first. Cotto was tired, but it was the result of MUCH more movement in this second fight. He was getting tired from the movement but it was a hell of a lot better than getting tired from throwing too many punches and trading with Margarito. By now, I think the Margarito blueprint is definitely developed, revealed, and released to the masses: box and conserve stamina. If you get tempted to throw everything at him, you're setting yourself up for a big letdown in the final rounds.
I think Cotto did excellent but he had some stupid moments as well. I'm not sure, but I think it was in the third round or fourth round that Margarito got to him and he started fighting on the inside with Margarito. After that, he didn't look so good but apparently recomposed himself and started hitting Margarito a lot more and more cleanly as the fight went on. By the time he got to the eighth round, I firmly believed that Cotto had it in the bag. It's not like he was going to submit in Madison Square Garden. The only way Margarito was going to beat him was by beating him up the way Pacquiao did, that wasn't happening or showed any indication of that whatsoever.
Part of me feels bad for Margarito. He just dropped to 1-3 in his last 4 fights, all to great fighters, mind you. He still would have a terrific chance at anyone in the 154 pound division if it WEREN'T for that eye. His career at the elite level, especially with heavy left punchers, is over. He can still take a punch and has a lot of heart, but his face just doesn't hold up anymore, unfortunately.
Also, as an interesting note I pointed out a long time ago, and have to point it out again (although this is more due to styles)...
MAYORGA-12th round TKO's to Mosley and Cotto
MARGARITO- 9th round and 10th round TKO to Mosley and Cotto
:D
BTW, if anybody is still reading, Margarito still has power. I've never been sold that Margarito doesn't have anything in his punches. He does, he marked up Cotto and marked up Pacquiao. Mosley is the only fighter out there that beat Margarito with little to non-existant difficulty.
I'm out, guys. Sleepy as hell...Goodnight!
BTW, ya'll can hate me if you want, but this fight was nowhere near as dramatic as the first. It was entertaining and I wsa excited watching it unfold. The crowd reaction couldn't have been better. The undercard was terrific, my friends WERE ACTUALLY sitting down watching the whole undercard with intrigue. It was good. To be honest, I think I'm beginning to relax more as time passes. I don't get up to cheer or scream at the tv AS MUCH AS I USED TO.
Word man.
Margarito's all heart. We'll never know about the plaster thing but I just look at it as gameplans.
Cotto fought into Margarito's gameplan the first fight and got beat up. In this fight he smartened up and won comfortably.
Was an entertaining one-sided fight.
Just like the pac vs marg fight!:haha:
That would be interesting but where would Antonio be licensed? That's tough.
One more thing, that girl on your avatar is really hot. I'd like one like that in a heartbeat. Who wouldn't?
NY again or even Chicago...Chicago would would be a more nuetral place for Margarito...and Cotto since there's alot of Mexicans and Ricans there....
two warriors went at it today....I'm not feeling bad at all.....this is what boxing is all about...
I wanna see Cotto/Margarito 3 in 2012...Let Margarito's eye heal a bit...

Two great PPV's in a row, Pacquiao-Marquez III (minus the bogus decision) and Cotto-Margarito II. We all crap on Top Rank (and rightfully so most of the time) but they delivered big these past cards.
hopefully we can close out the year with a bang with the upcomming Froch-Ward bout, and Khan and Peterson give us a decent showing.
That's because Cotto made it look like Tony had no power when he clearly felt it by the 4th round.
Nothing wrong with what Margarito said, he didn't feel Cotto's power, simple as that.
Why was his right side of his face beaten up? He had a very bad eye that was clearly not conditioned to fight.
Other than that, thank you for this post.
It shows you're not just a fanboy, you're an actual fan.

I have no pity for that disgraceful cheater.
Only thing he proved tonight was that he can't hurt Cotto without the plaster.
c'mon look at Cotto's face...margo did some damage
and Margaritos eye was already ****ed up...which is why this fight was almost not made.....
half the Mexicans in my party were rooting for Cotto though....
it's all good...it was a good fight....Props to both fighters...
