He wants a crack a cruiserweight title, something he has not yet achieved.
Roy also goes in depth on Mayweather and Pacquiao. He breaks down why he believes this fight has not yet happened, and why Arum is leaning toward a Marquez 4. Jones also discusses the rematch that took place between Miguel Cotto and Antonio Margarito. He also breaks down Amir Khan Vs. Lamont Peterson. Roy tells 8CN that people better not take Lamont Peterson too lightly in this fight. He believes Khan may get the victory, but it will not be an easy task Vs. Peterson.

EXCLUSIVE INTERVIEW: ROY JONES JR
By John McCormick
JM: Roy, next Saturday you’re stepping into the ring with Max Alexander. What are you looking to prove by fighting him?
Roy Jones: I’m going to show the world that Roy Jones is still here. Why not?"
JM: The past two Saturdays, you were a part of HBO’s broadcast team. Two weeks ago you were in Houston for the Chavez Jr-Manfredo Jr bout, and this past weekend you were in Cincinnati for the Broner/Russell Jr/Alvarez triple header. With a fight so close, how seriously are you preparing for this fight?
Roy Jones Jr: I’m taking this fight very serious. Everywhere I’ve been in the past few weeks, I haven’t missed the gym.
JM: What would a win mean for your career at this point?
Roy Jones Jr: If I win I want to win a world title again before I retire.
JM: What would a loss mean?
Roy Jones Jr: If I lose I’ll pack up my bags, and call it a day.
JM: Many fans believe you should’ve retired after you beat John Ruiz back in 2003. Do you have any regrets about moving back down to light heavyweight?
Roy Jones Jr: I only did it because the fans demanded it. I wanted to win the heavyweight title, and then go back down and win the light heavyweight title. Going back down to light heavyweight from heavyweight will almost kill you. Most fighters can’t do it. Look at James Toney he went up to heavyweight, and was able to get a title shot, but he could never come back down to light heavyweight. He can’t make the weight for it. Making weight was the hard part. You have a lot of people that can win a title but not many that can win another title at a different weight at the same time, you feel me?
JM: Out of all the professional fights that you’ve fought; who was your toughest opponent?
Roy Jones Jr: James Toney. That man was hard to hit.
JM: Pound for pound: who is number one in your eyes right now? Pacquiao or Mayweather?
Roy Jones Jr: It’s a toss-up between them two. Them two is the top fighters right now. I’ll give Floyd 1a and Pacquiao 1b, let’s get them together and see who is number one.
JM: Any closing thoughts for the fans Roy?
Roy Jones Jr: December 10th Roy Jones Jr. is back. I don’t know much about Max Alexander, I don’t care much about Max Alexander, and I’m just trying to get rid of him. I’m in great shape, I’ve had great training for this fight, and I’m looking sharp like always, boy.
Nice. It looked like Roy carried Tito that fight. It seemed like he could KO Tito at anytime. Imagine how the fight would have been if they met back in 2001?
About the same lol
I think I paid 400 for a ticket... was about halfway up..

How much you pay for the Trinidad fight at MSG? I wanted to go to that but the prices were crazy.

Most definitely! He should of left on that good performance right there.
Here some highlights from Jones vs Lacy. I think most of the fight is on youtube if you want to see more.
I was ringside for that fight, went with two guys from this forum... glad I saw his last great performance live..
The Lacy fight is definitely worth a download if you're a Roy fan..

same herethe last fight of his that I watched live was Calzaghe going into it I still had the tiniest glimmer of hope that some of the old spark was left especially after the first round but midway through the third i knew for certain that he was completely shot the rest of that fight was hard to watch and I haven't watched any of his fights since. (except for a few highlights which show him getting beat up sigh)

if he retired after winning the HW title llike he should have
all good- tarver was never on his level
weight draining himself against a dangerous puncher was bound to end in disaster
after that he was never the same guy
now its................depressing honestly
when you grew up and watched your hero do things no one else did- and then watch them lose to people who dont deserve to be in the ring with them- its hard to take- i cant watch RJJ fights anymore

Roy was having an easy time against Denis Lebedev right up to those last 20 seconds or so when he got clocked...otherwise he was on his way to UD and he isn't really even a cruiserweight...he looked soft and bloated at CW.
Don't write him off just because he got caught...one punch can change everything in boxing. He will never be the RRJ of old...but he still has some interesting fights to be made if he so chooses.
Roy also said he had a horrible training camp too and it showed. The way Roy’s body looked didn’t look good his last fight and you can definitely tell he wasn’t 100% dedicated to training when you see him spending more time promoting then training in Russia. The Danny Green fight he came prepared but RJJ was cocky off the Lacy fight and he thought he was back, not thinking everyone knows all his tricks leaving his hands down just got caught in his sweet spot (side of the head) and couldn’t recover fast enough after the knockdown.
This next fight he’s been putting in mad work in the gym been training for like 3 full months; going back in forth from Pittsburgh, PA to Pensacola, FL training with Tom Yankello & Alton Merkerson. Maybe the brand new trainer has helped get RJJ motivated again but we won’t find out until after December 10th.

No disrespect to Roy, but I think Lebedev was carrying him. That or Lebedev sucks more than I can imagine for a fighter in his prime. When Lebedev got serious for 15 seconds we saw what happened. I still think Roy wins and can be competitive with B- fighters. I wouldn't mind seeing him go for some Foreman-type comeback and then going for another shot at a trinket.
