It's funny how he's doing everything he can to convince Cotto to stay with Top Rank, promising to give him Chavez Jr next, really? Chavez Jr?? Funny and sad at the same time.:lol1:
I hope Cotto leaves that greedy old bastard and joins Golden Boy!
Arum has been making this "fight" for years now and still didn't get it done!
Well, this would all make sense if it were a forgone conclusion that Cotto beats Chavez jr. Which I do not think would happen. Chavez is huge & Cotto is small & Cotto doesn't like to fight big guys.
He should go to GB for a Mayweather fight and he may not need to come down for it either (although I've always thought he looked better at 147 than at 154, it has just been a few years now). And I'm thinking a fight with Chavez @ 160 would be a lot more difficult than a fight with Canelo @ 154 for Cotto, at least.
You know, even at 80, he's still as petty, greedy and deceitful as ever. Seems things are starting to come crashing down around him. And he's only got himself to blame.
Only amongst a vindictive and malicious group of mindless twits on Boxingcene. Otherwise he's the most respected Promoter in the whole world.

You conveniently forget that during these "years" you talk about, Chavez was a rank beginner, just learning how to be a pro. He never had any amateur career and has been learning on the job, that's why we see him getting gradually better. Why everyone wants to see him get slaughtered at this early stage of his career is beyond me. Mindless.
Let the guy alone. He's trying to improve himself, and he might not be able to handle Martinez yet but can put up a decent fight against Cotto. It would take him at least another 2 years to get to Martinez' level in my opinun, and he has the capability to do it because he's becoming a decent fighter, learning the basics more and more. . And if he's brought along the way Arum want him to be. He's happy to be where he is, and Arum knows what he's doing, has already made the kid a millionaire, probably worth more than his old man already.
This fight ain't shit, how is Chavez Jr any benefit to Cotto besides easy work/money? What happens after that weak ass fight? Arum ain't giving him a PAC rematch...or Floyd because Arum "dont want Floyd to make money off him"
The benefit is the 4th world title in 4th different divisions something that would be a first for a Puerto Rican boxer. Arum will sell him that and he will tell him that the only way to get a Pacquiao rematch is to beat Chavez Jr and use the belt to make Pacquiao fight him again. That will be Arum selling point to get him to sign a new contract.
Cotto asked for Chavez after Mayorga and Arum said Chavez was not ready but now that Cotto's contarct is up he wants to feed Chavez to him lol.
