If Not Pacman, who Mayweather should fight next

he should fight that little fella martinez. or maybe khan. but the date implies a fight with some mexican boxer. seriously morales is not a good fight, and marquez, mayorga and guerrero are also lol.

1. It was about funding. Mayweather wanted a 10 million dollar package deal to fight Cotto, Marg, and a few other people who were hot at that time. Arum could only guarantee 7 mil. 2. Hindsight 20/20 is something else isn't it. It's easy to wait until 5 years after the fact and call a certain fighter a bum. Fact is, at the time, Baldomir had a chin of granite and just beat Judah and KO'd Gatti. This may sound like no huge accomplishment, but AT THE TIME, it was. See for yourself: Now, here we are at the end of 2011 after Marg beat Cotto, and people completely forget about what was going on at the time. What you failed to leave out he also wanted a guarantee at Ricky Hatton who has never been promoted by Arum, how could he pull that off if he isnt the promoter? I think Floyd just made it difficult because at that time Margarito had welters on the run...

I have accepted that Floyd is not fighting Martinez. And Pacquiao will fight Martinez even less. And I don't buy that it's size. I think it's more the skill he has for his size. If he was big, but was a punching bag who didn't move so much like he does, and didn't have the handspeed and power he has, they woulda fought him. Actually subtract the handspeed and movement and they would fight him. Size and power does not win fights, without skill, we've seen that too many times, unless you're in HW. Martinez decapitates Pacquiao due to size, plus the skill like you said. But Floyd VS Martinez at 154 is a 50/50 fight only because Martinez is naturally bigger, actually I think Floyd should be favored. Martinez fights with his hands down and I could see Floyd tagging him up, and plus Martinez showed he's very vulnerable against a defensive fighter in his last fight. He wouldn't know what do against Floyd's defense. The ball is of course in Floyd's court to make it happen.

JMM myth reminds me of Winky myth....How they were ducked by this guy, that guy, and the other guy...Yet it was them who were turning down career high paydays. SMH. The Marquez one isn't as bad as the Winky one. But the cake is almost taken for ducking myths in the modern era when it's said about Joshua Clottey. He didn't turn down payday's like Winky Wright but in the past 2 years a myth has risen from somewhere that Clottey has been notoriously ducked. I mean, where the f*ck does this sh*t come from?

Floyd wanted to fight Margarito, but Arum didn't have the funding. Arum, The Floyd Lover, admits this himself. Everyone else can interpret Arum's words however they like. Or interpret the events that transpired after however they like. But it's kind of hard to say Floyd ducked Marg when Arum says he didn't. I'm not taking Arum's word as gospel, just saying. He made the same money fighting Baldimor so the funding wasnt the issue, the issue was Baldimor cant punch had nearly a dozen losses and couldnt box for ****. The lineal title in that sense the one in which Carlos Baldomir held well look at it this way back then who was the better fighter? Baldomir or Margarito? Obviously it was margarito, but from a technical stand point the lineal title makes Floyds fight with Carlos legit even though Carlos was not truly the best fighter out there to be fought

And, Pac fighting him becomes way more likely than what it is now. It's the combination of size and skill. It's what IMO makes it hard for either of them to challenge him. And, I don't blame them for not fighting them...Floyd might do it though in the future. But, not now.

I seriously doubt Floyd fights in February....I don't know why anyone believes that he will...He has never been one of the most active fighters. And, now with his age and even with all the money he makes. It unrealistic for him to fight in February and then again in May. If he does fight next year. It will be in May. And, depending on how Khan and Canelo look like in their next fight. Will decide if he fights or not. If both look like meh.....You might see him take another vacation. If one or the other look damn good in an impressive win then that's his next opponent in May. I agree. Feb seem unrealistic for Floyd's age. May 5 is good though, I think he's spoiling his fans by saying Feb. May is good enough for me. That would be only 8 months after his last fight. And if a Mayweather-Pacquiao fight is going to happen, then Feb seems even more unrealistic, since Pacquiao just fought this month.

I say Amir Khan makes the most sense right now financially. he's already a star to some degree and the buildup would be tremendous. probably the next best fight that will make the most money for him. on Cinco De mayo I would say after Margarito beats Cotto again fight Tony

That looks likely, Macklin-Martinez. Although, I think Martinez would put that aside if Mayweather approached them. I don't really care too much to see Macklin -Martinez anyway. I don't care too much for it either. And, of course Martinez will put that aside. But, I'm not confident that Floyd will push for that fight just yet.

manny didnt fight cotto right away because he had bigger fish to fry !!! osacr & hatton who he just so happened to rite both of them!!!!! as soon as he was finished with them he wasted no time and went straight for cotto!!!!! if mosley wasnt preoccupied with berto he wouldve taken him next !!!!!!! and i disagree mwith you on marquez vs manny3 it was a great fight !!!! i did not come away from the fight feeling i was robbed !!!!! and as far as moralles ducking marquez for yrs , i wrote a highly regarded peice on that last yr and it was about 7 paragraphs long breaking down all the specifics and everyone that read it even the people that hate my guts admitted i was right !!!! i will look for the post and post it in here trust me you will see the light !!!!! So the best, and realistic fights to be made, are against Martinez and Khan. I'm not too sure that Khan would fight Floyd with only 2 months to prepare after his fight against Peterson, but I don't think he would turn it down if Golden Boy would propose it. Martinez takes this fight in a heartbeat. A Canelo fight is also intriguing, but that needs more time to build up. Fights against Bradley, Cotto/Margarito winner, *insert Top Rank opponent*, are almost unrealistic because we know that scum bag Arum will now allow his stable to get eaten up by Floyd.
