Enroll in GB. He's already copromoted several events in Puerto Rico with Oscar, maybe a partnership in the company isn't out of the question like B-Hop and Mosley have done.
Arum disrespected Cotto by not taking care of him and basically spit on him with the Margarito issue. The post presser for the Mayorga fight was the final nail in the coffin. After that Cotto knew what he had to do.
I don't even think Cotto should of given Margarito another chance. Chavez fight was ripe from the start, idk why that ball never got rolling until now. Instead, a fight against Angulo was a nice substitution for Tony that GB could've whipped up. Another against Winky(redemption for Tito) and finally the Canelo fight. If he had to squeeze out one more then of course it's Mayweather.
Simply put, if you're job is making you unhappy then quit. I see little TR has to offer Cotto(Arum promised a rematch w/Pac, LIED. Chavez Jr, Bulsh!ttttt. And of course we all know how Cotto was going to pull out of the Margarito fight if he didn't land it in NY like Bob originally guaranteed)
Cotto is pisse# @ Arum so it would shock me if he doesn't jump ship to GB, depending on what fights they can offer him.
Well if he beats Margo impressively and jumps ship, i'm sure a fight with Floyd at 147 wouldn't be out of the question. Floyd wants to stay active, but also make fights that make financial sense. Cotto vs Floyd would do 1.5 million buys imho.
ummm arum wanted to do the fight. he even guaranteed floyd at least 7 million(much more than his previous career high at the time) but floyd demanded 10 million to fight a JWW cotto(same amount floyd got to fight delahoya) how can arum guarantee 10 million when cotto wasn't even a big star and mayweather was only doing 350k buys? it's called pricing yourself out. arum loves to do in house fights. he would have loved to make that fight because no matter who wins he wins.
floyd was never ever going to fight cotto no matter the money. he just wanted to get out of his contract so he made a bunch of ridiculous demands 10 million for cotto, 10 million for hatton, 20 million for delahoya. once he was out of his contract he happily accepted 10 million to fight delahoya which punches a hole in his credibility and shows that his demands were just a trick to get out of his contract and not fight those guys.
please do some critical thinking before just repeating crap you hear from flomos or other tards who have no comprehension skills.
What you forgot to say is that Arum guaranteed Floyd 8 mil for a Margarito fight. 1 more million than the Cotto fight even though Cotto was and still is the much bigger draw, what does that tell you? He also kept Cotto away from Floyd at 140.
Floyd didn't lose his credibility because in his next fight after leaving Top Rank he earned 1 more dollar than Arum's highest offer. Then he fought Oscar for 15 mil guaranteed + a share of the PPVs and gate money so when it was all said and done he made more than 20 million. Do your homework son.
In Rafael's chat today he mentioned it. He said that Arum didn't want to discuss it "but Bob knows he'll have to deal with it after the Margarito fight".
This would infer that Arum knows there's going to be a problem resigning him.
A little more savoire du faire if you please. You mean that "that would imply..." not infer.... which has a totally different meaning.
You know DAGGUM, I've long been thinking that it's about time I told you that you are one of the few more knowledgeable and intelligent posters on BoxingScene.
why thank you sir. the only unintelligent thing i've ever said is calzaghe is the greatest of all time. that was silly of me because it's clearly chris john!

Well, Top Rank has made him all the way, and brought him to the top. He has never had, I believe another promoter, and in my opinion should stay loyal to the company which helped him achieve as much as he has done.
Cotto should not resogn ! The bs Arum pulled this pre fight and with other fighters should shown Cotto enough is enough.
Cotto should either self promote or goto GB and fight May which is very possible. No Arum, Cottos a good enough draw and its long overdue even if its late
If he goes to GBP he could get Mayweather as Bob won't stop it from happening like he did back at JWW.
Not to mention Cotto will have Alverez or even a fight with Khan if Khan ends up doing big things at WW and wants to move up or meet in the middle with Cotto.
Would be wise of him to do it if he beats Margarito.

I'm a huge Cotto fan, but I would like him to retire, regardless if he wins or loses. Go out on top after avenging your first loss. But if he wins, I do see a Pac/Cotto rematch, probably @ 150.

No homo but Cotto got Arum by the balls. Its no wonder Cotto was calling the shots on the venue.I say leave Top Rank asap and it'll open the doors to a whole new career if he can get past margarito. If he can defeat margarito it's see you later, cotto gets the last laugh. But I doubt a trilogy would happen due to the feud, who knows, point is cotto got options.
