The great thing about that is the best is always fighting the best. Champions like Anderson Silva are always fighting the best guys in their weight class. You cannot find one champion who cherry picks fights to get a night off or anything. Look at Cain Velasquez for example. Gets a serious injury, first fight back? #1 contendor Junior Dos Santos
Can you imagine the best fighting the best at 154 lbs?
Miguel Cotto
Saul Alvarez
James Kirkland
Alfredo Angulo
Pawel Wolak
Erislandy Lara
Paul Williams
Carlos Molina
Cornelius Bundrage
Antonio Margarito
Any two of those guys can make a spectacular fight at 154 lbs. Throw Sergio Martinez in the mix and we've got arguably the most talented division. But do any of the great fights happen? Nope. We get Chavez vs Manfredo shoved down our throats. We get Saul Alvarez vs Matthew Hatton shoved down out throats. Anyone else sickened by this shit?
Hell no. UFC only fights the UFC fighters. You dont see UFC champs fight strike force but in boxing you do see fight diff organizations. It's what makes boxing. Plus fighters make so much less in UFC zuffa keeps all the ppv profits. At least in boxing some fighters get some of that money
Idk if you knw, but zuffa bought strikeforce. Thats exactly whats happening
heres the most unbiased ranking out there.
http://www.bloodyelbow.com/rankings
As you can see, with very few exceptions, the best do fight the best. UFC have something like 90% of the topfighters in the world.
its not like top rank at all.
dont the "zuffa" company own all of them now??? lol....
In boxing? Well there are no promotional world champions. Like i said the UFC is not a sport. The UFC is a monopolized promotional company of the sport.
Everybody who wants "boxing to be just like the UFC" is brainwashed into thinking the "best fight the best'' because all they know is the UFC and not the rest oF MMA
The UFC is doing what boxing is doing but 10X worse. Arum is doing almost exactly what Dana White is doing but so many people hate him. Whys that?, i mean they do wanna see boxing run like the UFC

No... the in house fighters only fight in house fighters part.
They would be forced to fight in the much lesser known "Golden Boy Boxing League" or if they don't make it their they can compete for the "Lou DiBella championship belt" which is pretty obscure :boxing:
Or the Gary Shaw Fighting Challenge worse even Don King Break-Neck No Holds Barred Cage Matchs
I'm struggling to see the difference between that and what's currently going on...?

What happens after they lose a fight or 2 will they get cut?
Sent packing forced to fight in local dives trying to get back to the Big Show
Who says 2 losses and your automatically cut? Ive seen guys in the UFC go 4 losses in a row. You want the Miguel Cotto's Sergio Martinez's to fight guys with losing records to display how dominant they are over the weaker opposition? You want to see non-competitive fights?
Or Chris Arreola fighting 6 bums in a row.
Manuel Quezada
Joey Abell
Nagy Aguilera
Kendrick Releford
Friday Ahunanya
Raphael Butler
Just to pad his win record. Now fight a real contendor like Helenius, Povetkin, Chugayev, Chambers anybody that stands a real chance. We all know all those six guys had little very little chance on beating him.

Yes, but in all fairness, they did collect a record $55 grand during their 2 fights
So you want the sport of boxing to be run like UFC, a promotional company? You know the sport is called MMA right
Hey i have an idea, how about Top Rank creates a "Top Rank World Champion", and holds only in-house fight. Then it would be just like the UFC
I'm struggling to see the difference between that and what's currently going on...?
not just that, but I think boxing is unique where fighters do need to progress and take a number of fight and slowly work their way up... I could totally see a scenario where a young guy has a lot of buzz around him and "the powers that be" rush to put him in a fight with the veteran champ and he just gets destroyed, maybe ruins his career, whereas if he went the traditionally boxing way and slowly develops over time he would be a much better fighter in the long run.
So I think boxing it's good in a way that fighters can choose what they do with their careers and make their own legacy. Of course the downside is exactly what you pointed out - the best fights don't always happen.
There are a number of other reasons why I think a "ufc" type organization just wouldn't work with boxing, boxing is a massive international sport. Lots of guys could and would be left out who otherwise would be deserving of title shots, etc.
that bit right there..
UFC need better fighters still, the gap in skill etc between the best and the rest is still too great.

I agree with the young fighter thing. But the Chris John's of boxing, the Chavez Jr's, Saul Alvarezs' are getting old now. Sick of watching one sided beat downs which is designed for one fighter to always lose and has no chance. I keep watching Chavez Jr vs Manfredo and keep thinking what a complete joke its amazing. Instead of fighting that dude why not fight the best? I gotta give Chavez a little credit for fighting Zbik though. But the manfredo thing lost me.
i love boxing more but ufc has it right. besides a lack of fighters rights, there is only one title per weight, occasional interim title if champ has been out for a while. there is no such thing as career guiding, the best fight the best. it wont change though too much money in the way boxing runs now.
There's a UFC world champ, a Strikeforce world champ, etc. Im not even sure how many "world champions" there really are but it a hell of a lot more then boxing.

is it just me or is anyone else sick of some of the **** that goes down in boxing? im sick of not seeing the fights I want to see. Props to James Kirkland and El Perro for getting it on I think I blew a load watching that fight. Best fighting the best
