So far this year we have had:
- The Haye-Kitschko fight that was a huge letdown.
- Hopkins-Dawson...another huge disappointment (and waste of money).
- Mayweather-Ortiz with a controversial ending.
- Pacquiao-Marquez...I thought was less than spectacular
- Now the possibility of Cotto-Margarito 2 being canceled.
I sure hope it gets better in 2012...
What a dumb thread
1. December is LOADED with great fights and will easily be the best month of the year for fight fans
2. There have been a ton of classic fights from Wolak vs Rodriguez, Marquez vs Concepcion and Rios vs Acosta all 3 could be FOTY in some other years
It's pretty bad. Before this year, people wee complaining about the worst year being 2008 and look at the lineup. This is how spoiled they had us back a few years:
Dawson-Johnson
Marquez-Pacquiao II
Campbell-Diaz
Marquez-Casamayor
Torres-Holt II
Froch-Pascal
Casamayor-Katsidis
Cunningham-Adamek
Cotto-Margarito
Vazquez-Marquez III
Lee-Vera
That was the worst year for boxing before 2011.
I don't know how any one can mention 2010 as a bad year:
Kessler-Froch
Khan-Maidana
Segura-Calderon
Pavlik-S. Martinez
Burns-Martinez
Alexander-Urango
Valero-DeMarco
Katsidis-Mitchell
Hopkins-Pascal I
Johnson-Cloud
Ortiz-Peterson
Soto-Antillon
Mares-Darchinyan
Gamboa-Salido
Martinez-Williams II for as long as it lasted
Berto-Quintana
Just gonna stop it right there.
if it's any consolation, I don't think 2012 can be any worse than previous years as most of the major fights that were in demand for years either happened (Haye Klitschko) or lost its lustre (Pac Money). Maybe we'll see Bradley vs Khan :)
No... I would say 2010 was worse. Anyway, it's just the hyped up matches that are the disappointments. We've been treated to a lot of great upsets on FNF and HBO. Let's see, Rubio-Lemieux, Berto-Ortiz, and Grady-Guerrero. Great matches like Angulo-Kirkland, Maidana-Morales, Morales-Cano, Berto-Ortiz again, as well as Wolak-Rodriguez. So no, 2010 was business as usual. In fact, I can't recall seeing matches as dramatic as this year.
