JMM reminds me a lot of Hopkins, getting better with age and his best wins and fights are coming in late in his career.
Not to mention that judges have screwed both guys over multiple times in their careers.
Me too, but I gotta' think that if Marquez can suck up Pac's shots, he has a pretty good chance of withstanding Naz' and he'd get hit less often by Naz than Pac.
I suppose the whole thing comes down to how likely it is that Naz would be able to put JMM all the way out with one or two shots.
Prince called out JMM before I believe. Not sure what happened with that. Naz was very fast and KOing people, which are the only 2 reasons I gave him a pass for his arrogance in and out of the ring. I loved when Barrera f..ed him up, Haha!
I do...
Yes or no?
THOUGHTS?
This is disgusting. Before the Katsidis fight, people were saying how Barrera and Morales were CLEARLY above JMM, and now because of the TKO over Katsidis and how he looked against Pacquiao, he's better than them.
Don't get me wrong, I've always liked the guy and I'm over the moon that people are seeing it that way and are putting Márquez up there, it just irks me that people suddenly flip-flopped on the "Who's greater between JMM, Morales, and Barrera?"
Yes of course, and also would like to point out that every loss on Marquez' record is questionable besides when he moved up two weight classes to fight the great Mayweather.
People think he should fight Morales but I disagree, it does little for his legacy besides saying "I beat Erik Morales". I think he should go for Khan or Bradley, and really leave no doubt that he's best out of the Mexican Fab-3.
Yes, Marquez is above both but all three have very respectable careers.
Wish Marquez fought Hamed. I was curious to see that one played out.

no.
maybe if you've only been following boxing post-2003.
barrera and morales made the hof before anyone even knew who the **** marquez and pacquiao was.
I say no... Erik Morales is the best IMO... If it wasent for that treamendous performance that he had against Maidana then yes I would have had Marquez as the best... Barrera is last IMO... How about Marquez vs. Morales to settle who's the best Mexican p4p!? :-)
marquez easily dominated barrera 118-109 in 2007 so yes he's probably greater than them both.
Although at this point I would place Marquez higher than Barrera in a career comparison, you must not have watched the fight. Maybe you weren't into boxing way back then and you're basing your argument on Boxrec. It was actually close and some folks had Barrera w/the win. In any case, nobody called it any kind of domination...like I said you probably didn't watch it.
As far as your attempt to preempt anyone bringing it up, though JMM is a little older, Barrera had many more hard miles on him at that point in their respective careers. In case we're talking about things you weren't around for, folks used to deride JMM for not taking risks and having boring fights.
I was saying he was greater before last night.
Same here.
I've always held him up there with Salvador Sanchez, Julio Cesar Chavez, and Ricardo Lopez.
Easily.
It baffles me that he was in the shadows during the Barrera/Morales era partly because some of the decisions he made regarding his opponents. He's truly a warrior and amazing to watch, I bet the Mexicans love him now - I'm curious to see how his homecoming is going to turn out - I hope there's going to be a coverage it.
He's above Barrera and Morales imo, his consistency as a top fighter is outstanding and to have the courage to fight Pac at this level is astounding.
yes and especially when you consider the only fight he's clearly lost was to mayweather. all his other fights were either robberies or super close fights that could have gone his way.
exactly. Marquez never got blown up like barrera and morales did. those boys got straight owned annihilated and KO'd brutally at times, but no one has mastered marquez ever
