Last night i believe Marquez should have won. He clearly shocked me and millions of people. He landed the crisper and more telling shots. Pac just threw way more but his punches didnt seem more telling than Marquez.
This happened in Williams Martinez I. Williamswork rate was picked over Martinezs effective punching.
So what do you prefer? I go with effective punching. It just shows your clearly committing to hit your spots to make an impact not just throw random **** cause your quick.
combination of both....
workrate , pac won that...
effective punching pac won that aswell
check my sig....
i'm sorry, and i know a lot of people won't agree with me, but compubox statistics are not gospel. you do realise how they're counted right?- a couple of guys who i don't think necessarily know all that much about boxing tallying up the punches in real time. basically not much different to amateur boxing judges but with a much more complicated task.
now i'm not saying that the figures are wrong, although i'm not sure they're are right, but just that they are not the be all and end all.
Marquez was the combination puncher last night. Pacman was limited to lead right hooks & the ocasional straight left. Marquez had the uppercut, straight right & the 2-piece to the body at the end of most exchanges working wonders.
Pacquaio also hit clean many clean combo at marquez face while marquez always landed one punches.
What fight were you watching? Manny mostly stuck to his "jab, straight left hand" combo all night long, that's why he looked so crappy. He caught Marquez with the right hook once or twice, but for some reason, he went right back to relying on his left entirely.
All of the good combinations were landed by Marquez. Crunching right hands that backed Pacquiao off, and visibly hurt him, digging hooks to the body, ripping uppercuts between the guard, etc...
I'm sick of hearing about work rate. If a guy throws hundreds of punches and lands hardly anything while his opponent is waiting, picking the right spots and landing most of his punches, guess who's getting the round...
thats true but that was not the case last night....
How the **** anybody can give the fight to marquez is what i dont get.
Pacquaio had both work rate and effective punches. He also landed the more cleaner punches.
Yes pacquaio hit air lot, so did marquez.
Pacquaio also hit clean many clean combo at marquez face while marquez always landed one punches.
The thing is that people were so in shock that marquez was actually competitive that they gave all those close rounds even the round that pacquaio landed cleanly.
No, this does not apply to me and I still had Marquez winning.
dude that was from a head butt
and the difference between a swelling face from a busted lips is
u have to have effective punches to make someones face swell
while
a single punch can bust ur lips homeboy
pac won that fight from more effective punchess
looook at that dang swelling facee of marquez
u cant be telling me it just swell from pacquiaos missing punchess?
So you factor in what the opponet's face looks like, at the end of a fight?
Newsflash : Some guys just swell and cut easier than others. Look at Ricky Hatton, and how badly his face was swollen in some of his biggest wins.
I'm sorry, but your boy got owned last night 8 rounds to 4, and it's damn near agreed upon universally, at this point. Everybody from sportswriters, to fellow boxers, to random boxing fans online agree Marquez got robbed.

Pacquiao was effective in punching last night? He hit air 3 times out of 5.
As for the facial swelling, that proves nothing. Pacquiao had a busted lip AND a gash over his eye that required 28 stitches.
I always favor clean, effective punching, over sheer workrate, unless the numbers are highly disproportionate. I'll take 30 thrown, with 15-18 landed, over 50 thrown with 20 landed any day of the week.
I'm all about the clean, effective punching.
