I'll be honest, I haven't seen an awful lot of him but I'm not impressed by him.
Sure he has tools but he's still very untested and I'm just y' know not sure of this guy & how good he is.
I expected Glen to at least test him and IMO that was a damn sparring match. Boring 'fight' & Bute sure he probably shut-out Glen & deserves props for that but I see nothing based on that performance that leads me to suggest Bute is a world beater & could hang with the likes of Froch, Ward, Kessler etc
Maybe I am being unfair to Bute but his best win is probably against Magee, a guy that got absolutely crucified by Froch before Froch was prime.
30 fights against that level of opposition and he is No1 in the division? Eh?
30 fights, look what Groves has done in 14.
You can't really think this guy goes from where he is to beating the Super 6 winner or the losing finalist, surely?
Very talented quick has solid power and size...... Don't have a problem with where he is currently ranked by The Ring..... Has a chance to be #1 if he beats the winner of the S6 (Ward) but I don't see it happening....
Can't be so sure Ward will win the SS,I personally see Froch stopping Ward...
Johnson injured his arm in the 4th (shows the swelling in the post-fight interview) so was basically one handed for 8 rounds vs Bute. He also believed he won the fight against Bute.

Ironically enough Bute also injured his left hand in the 4th round lol There are pictures of it all swollen. Bute didn't mention it though until Johnson started trying to use his elbow as a excuse.
Johnson was boxing and not pressuring Bute along with keeping his right arm glued against his body to protect against Bute's left from round 1. Things didn't all of a sudden change with his approach and Bute's best weapon was also compromised.
Johnson was flat because he took only 5 months to prepare for that fight. At 42 years old he didn't take Bute too seriously and he everytime Bute landed flush, Johnson was losing his balance. He was afraid of Bute left hand all night. He didn't gave any chance for a bodypunch, that was his plan. He only landed jab, thats it.

Good find Green sent...
Something was off with Johnson(not trying to take anything away from Bute)I've followed Johnson for yrs,and never seen him so flat..I thought maybe age had finally caught up to him,but if he had a legit injury then it explains a lot..
There was nothing off Bute just made Glen Johnson look really really bad which is something Froch couldn't. He also beat Sakio Bika much worse than Ward was able to.
There was something off; Johnson fought most of the fight with an injury.

Also Johnson never claimed he beat Froch so he obviously thought more of Froch's performance. I scored the Bute fight by a bigger margin personally, but Johnson clearly wasn't firing the right hand with any authority although I don't think it made any difference to the outcome.
I rate him 10/10 best SMW best uppercuts in boxing most powerful SMW in history
Mate, what have you been smoking? Most powerful SMW in history?!? The guy has been in with 1 fighter of note.
He did look awfully big compared to Johnson though.
I think Froch beat Magee way better then Bute, when you take into account when Froch fought him and when Bute fought him..Johnson imo does not count,Froch Johnson was contested on a higher level then Bute Johnson was..I don't know if it was the friendship or Johnson showing his age,but something was off there..

I watched the fight on boxnation n the commentator kept on saying he is thee best in the world at 168 n he would have 2 much 4 both froch n ward. He also said the fact he had 19000 fans against Johnson n froch had 4000 showed he was a bigger star, but if froch/Johnson was in nottingham then he could of done 20000
Were talking about fighters fighting, damn the drawing power and money..Jeez you getting a cut of it??So tired of everything going back to how many people came out or how many PPV were sold..Some of the best fights to be seen are not the big fights, which fight was better,Froch Johnson or Bute Johnson??You say it was 4000 people??Well it was 4000 pleased fans, unlike the 19000 that left disappointed at the boring crap they had to watch last sat..
I've only seen him once, against Johnson and was NOT impressed. I don't think I'll see another fight of his unless he is on the under card of a good fight. In which case maybe it'll be on but I wont be paying too much attention.
Yh I wasn't overly impressed and I only caught the fight late on. Was almost like there was way too much respect being shown between both fighters & they was really hesitant.
That isn't fair is it really, it was Johnson's last fight before Bute and maybe Bute just made him look so bad because of his power and other physical advantages. Regardless of why he shut out or nearly did while Froch was in a competitive fight with Glen.
I forgot about Magee because well, he is not very good or a relevant fighter but Ward in a competitive fight regardless of the official scoring against Bika and Bute easily UD'd him before Ward fought him
You have a point, maybe I'm not use to seeing Johnson get beat up so bad(lol)..But you have to admit Johnson did look flat, but like you said maybe Bute did just have the power to make Johnson look so bad..Your right as well Bute dominated Bika,an most don't like to admit it but Ward was in a tough fight with Bika...
