Styles make fights.... Marquez has proved that his style gives Manny problems. And if Manny comes in true to his word, looking for a KO win... that's when JMM does his best work. Don't know why everyone is so sure of a Manny Pacquiao blowout.
There was hardly any of evidence of Marquez slowing down and Pac improving technically from the rematch. Pac made most of his improvements inbetween fights. I actually think his 1-2 reckless style might be better for him against JMM in the long run..
Marquez was never in danger in this fight and he was several times in the first two. So much for the talk of steroids...
Like I said, Cotto is JMM lite in terms of counter punching and he was landing on Pac. The other guys were incapable of countering at all. People keep overlooking the skillof his opponents instead of the size. Barrera, Morales, JMM were and still are the most talented fighters he's ever faced.
I don't think Manny has really made many improvements... I think his ability and style is one that succeeds against bigger fighters. They can't deal with his speed, and he hits just as hard as them. In short, he has a greater advantage against larger fighters than he has over Marquez.
So his success against the fading Welterweights created an illusion that he has made all these grand improvements, when in actuality, he only really held a physical advantage over them... in terms of speed.
When he fights someone as good as him, who is his own size.... and can deal with his speed... you get what we saw last night. That said, I'd like to see him against Robert Guerrero, Amir Khan, Marcos Maidana, Victor Ortiz.

thats right... and some losers back in some other thread were saying 'oohh loool the guy that got KOd by prescott? what merit does his word have'
its mannys own stablemate for crying out loud
he's a world class professional champion... I think he's got more merit than the bozos making those comments.
This time Pacquiao didnt get a knockdown to justify that decision. Marquez owned that ring for most of the fight. I feel so happy that Roach and Ariza get to swallow all that **** they were talking leading up to the fight. They really got lucky this time. However, it is partly Marquez' own doing that cost him this fight. I'm not sure if he decided to coast the final 3 rounds because he thought he was well ahead or because the extra weight made it more difficult to finish the full 12 rounds. I think he did look tired towards the end.
IMO he would have won more clearly if this fight took place at 140 or below. No wonder fudge packy wanted all these advantages.
I was thinking this exactly.
Just watched the Sky Primetime broadcast of the fight... Amir along with the broadcaster both thought Marquez won the fight. The Sky crew back in England thought JMM won and almost seemed disgusted at the decision. Don't know what to say about this, Amir Khan thought Marquez won...
Well, im surprised like a motherfukker because i really thought that Pac was gonna brutalize Marquez this time and get him out of there by the 10th round and to my surprise, I saw along with the rest of the world Marquez beat him and then get robbed!
Marquez is amazing!
It would be a huge upset. It would be the front runner for upset of the decade.
This is a huge mismatch.
Yes it is really far fetched. those fights happened 4 and 7 years ago in 3 and 4 weight-classes lower.
Pacquiao vs Marquez
Manny Pacquiao
Total punches thrown per round: Manny averaged 52.4 total punches thrown per round, and averaged 12.7 punches landed per round against JMM.
Jabs: He averaged 30.1 jabs thrown per round, and averaged 3.8 jabs landed per round.
Power punches: He averaged 22.3 power punches thrown per round, and averaged 8.9 power punches landed per round.
He was forced to threw lesser power punches per round due to the fact that JMM was able to limited and neutralized his most effective hand.
JMM has no chance this time around.
I can't lie to you, I mean I would love nothing other than to have Marquez win, but I'm in tune with reality. This is about as big a mismatch as Pacman-Mosley considering Marquez's age & the fight being at welterweight.
time to sing a different tune now, ...tell everone you expected this all along with your logical predictions...lol
I think Marquez underestimated Pacquiao in the first fight and was careless in the second.it's the sweet science man!
Haha. Marquez is brilliant, but I do feel that Marquez took advantage of what he or his trainer saw in the Mosley fight.
the funny thing is all of Pacquiao's fans are now saying Compubox numbers tell the winner ,but it wasn't so for the second fight.lmao
did anybody notice how Emanuel Steward was giving Marquez credit and towards the end was singing a different toon?thats called DAMAGE CONTROL ,Ahahahah!
:lol1: :lol1: very true.

how can you say this is a huge mismatch when Marquez IMO and others opinions outboxed Manny twice already? Lets face the facts, Manny is over hyped. He's made a living beating fighters on the decline with names and fighters killing themselves on the scales to make weight.
Credit for the thread starter for this one.I was always looking forward to this fight, and despite not making a prediction myself,I never believed for a moment that Pacquaio was going to destroy Marquez.I never saw this great decline in Marquez that everybody else seemed to see(even though he is past his prime) and I've said for ages that Pacquiao hadn't really improved since their last fight.
Those same flaws Marquez exposed last earlier were the same one's that he exposed twice already.Marquez had an easier time with Pacquiao this time around than he did the previous two meetings, and I personally only gave Pacquiao four rounds.
Lol, you're like the only Mosley fan left. Marquez moved to his left before the Mosley fight. It was Mosley who studied Marquez not the other way around.
He used that strategy more effectively. Pacquiao was not able to land the shots that he was able to in the first two fights.

I'd like to see Marquez let this go already, if they fought 100 times, the fight would be close. With that said, where does Marquez go from here?
I'd like to see him fight Erik Morales next. It's one of those fights that must happen before they both hand 'em up. Morales has done well in his last couple of outings, he's picked up the WBC 140lbs strap. If the time is ever gonna be right for these two to get it on, it's now. Please make this fight next for Morales' title. I'd like to see both of these guys earn another decent pay day, with each other before they move on vs the younger guns in the division.
it was a close fight
i tried my best not to be excited and stay with it
marquez won by one or two close rounds
the more accurate, crisp, hurtful showcase punches were landed by marquez
marquez controlled the fight all thruout with range and good boxing... he studied him to perfection
compubox had manny outthrowing and outlanding by about almost 200 i believe... but we all know how accurate those numbers are
have to watch again to make a conclusive decision, maybe even in slow motion
Good post. Marquez studied the Mosley fight. Marquez was moving left the entire fight. Pacquiao couldn't land, same with the Mosley fight.
I hear you man, even Manny looked like he wanted to cry after the fight when everyone was booing him. He knows what time it is, Marquez should have won that fight. But there was no way, in a close fight, that they were gonna give the fight to Juan, not with a 100M vs Mayweather on the line.
Hopkins-De La Hoya all over again?

yup..that's the truth.....
