So much is on the line, not only for Marquez but the fans too, who doesn't want to see this turn out into one of the greatest trilogies ever?
Too many people are buying into the whole 'Marquez's style is made to give Pacquiao serious problems. While to some extent that's true, it becomes a completely different ball game when Marquez's punches aren't having nearly the same effect.
The fact that Marquez had Pacquiao second guessing in those two fights is what attributed to a lot of his success. It gave Marquez the room, time to counter so effectively and I can't envision that happening in the 3rd fight.
I wish they made this fight at 140.. im banking on the whole 'style' thing to give JMM a chance, its gonna be competitive but Pac should win.
Marquez is winning this fight by knock out
Damn if that happens JMM will be a very, very rich man, doesn't he get 9mil for a rematch?
JMM KO's Pac....It won't happen, but this man can dream right? :D
marquez will be competitive but will be overwhelmed later on
i actually think pac will start off fast and marquez will look to counter. if that doenst work he will apply pressure and this might be his downfall.i think if marquez just boxes uses the jab and catch pac coming in he has a chance to upset him.brawling with pac will get him ko'd, hes never felt the power of pac at welter and may even be gun shy once he feels it and not throw too many.overall i think it will be competive with pac stopping him by tko round 6 after be knocked down multiple times
Common sense says your feeling is correct.
The man is 38, He is older and slower than he has ever been. His training is completely new. I have yet to see an elite fighter change his training regimen and actually provide the kind of positive results that truely shock boxing. He is fighting 3 weight classes over his actual size, he himself has claimed he has a problem coming in over 132lbs.
The monkey wrench here really is that he is a better skilled fighter than Pacquiao and fans are hopeful his superior technique will play into his favor. Though if he is slower and less conditioned his technique might be nullified.
Some people are beating to death that Pacquiao is a better skilled and trained fighter now, on a different level than when they fought. Marquez fought both 1 handed manny and 2 handed manny. I believe Pacquiao has looked better in recent fights because he hasnt faced elite opposition even though he is an elite fighter himself. He is more experienced and now a much bigger fighter but in skill he is still, powerhouse manny. Not much has changed. One must remember Manny hasn't fought an elite fighter since 2008 when he faced JMM.
So this fight is kind of a showcase to see if Manny has slowed down any since 2008 more than anything. Considering all the advantages Manny has amassed for himself in this fight he SHOULD look like a monster. Anything less leaves question about him loosing a little bit of an edge. JMM being his measuring stick because the man has skills and comes to fight and won't be gun shy.
Are people hopeful that JMM defeats all odds and shocks the world? Absolutely.
great post
:boxing:
Anyone else feel that way? Can't see any other outcome, never thought I'd see the day...

Marquez is winning this fight by knock out
highly doubt it but i would love it........and hate it at the same time because then mayweather will never fight pacquiao.
It is not clear that if Pac struggles with Marquez he'd lose to Mayweather, styles make fights. He might have 3 tough ones with Marquez and knock out Mayweather. You never know.
i agree...i don't know why people keep on bringing up pac's performance against jmm to assess his chances against floyd. if pac struggled against a skilled fighter like jmm blah blah blah...then he has no chance against a more skillful fighter like floyd. well, floyd and jmm are 2 different fighters with different styles and different skills set so i don't know how you can use that as a gauge.

I agree; of course styles make fights. But if Marquz wins, it'll be because he outboxes Pacquiao. If Marquez can outbox Pacquiao, I don't see Floyd not being able to. The only thing Floyd lacks is aggression and risk-taking, which isn't enough of a difference (to me) to say that Floyd wouldn't outbox him if Marquez can...
The underlying feeling leading up to this fight is that Marquez is nowhere near able to compete with Pacquiao anymore, let alone beat him. Anything can happen in a fight, but Pacquiao should get the knockout in this one.
That being said, it's clear that if Pacquiao struggles with Marquez, he has no chance of beating Floyd. That's the only reason I'm interested in this fight. Not really a fan of either fighter, so the only rematch I'm looking forward to is Cotto / Margarito.

and so, so many cant seem to grasp! asfar as the Level Playing Field qoutes!
Pacq has improved and grown into the weight division hes at. Marq cried for
this fight. not Pacq. So Marq gets his fight @ 144WW under the WW 147.
last time Marq fought at this weight against "you know who"! what was the
contracted weight? and what was "you know whos" overlimit weigh-in?
I feel this is fair considering the situation. Marq has even qouted(which i find funny) that if he would have offically beatin Pacq he'd be where Pacq is now.Well heres his chance, to beat Pacq at the P4P#1 weight! lol which is still
not at 147.. and btw! whatif, just whatif. Marq does happen to win by
chance? then what will be said about the weight? or if Marq happens to give
and excelent effort at this weight? what will be said?
Call me crazy. But I can See JMM winning if he can stay on his feet.
I rewatched the Cotto fight and noticed that Cotto gave Pac issues in the first 4 rounds minus the knockdowns with his boxing.
Pac had some issues with Mosley's movement.
If JMM can keep it a boxing match he has a shot imo
I hope you're right.
I really don't wan to see my boxing idol on the floor unable to get up. :(
I'll be in Vegas during the fight and want to bet on it, though I'm torn on exactly what the result will be. For me, it's between Pac (T)KO and Pac decision, I see a decision almost as likely as a KO.
Decisions, decisions...
EDIT: BTW does anyone know where to get odds on KO's or Decision? All the online betting sites only have straight up who wins and over/under.
