Post fight thoughts on Kirkland-Angulo.

very entertaining, i wish it woulda lasted long, well i wish angulo coulda got a second wind and made it a bit more entertaining then it was already, it was expected and i am very happy a fight was exciting that actually was supposed to be haha seems many end up letting us down on the excitement scale. boxing needs more top (or semi-top) fights (and fighters) like this to bring somemore excitement to boxing for the non-everyday fan.....boxing does need more exciting pay per view fights, but with the top names sicne they will bring the fans, people will not pay for lesser fighters to headline ppv, and ya know they wont make thta **** any less then like 50 bucks a pop......anyway haha

Both are limited boxers and fight like two headless chickens. Overall, it was an interesting and entertaining match to see, but definitely not PPV quality.

kirkland is too wild... a smart fighter would counter him all day... and he has a glass jawIf he truly had a glass jaw, and was nothing but a wild brawler, he wouldn't of beat Angulo like he did. Angulo is a good fighter, and Kirkland annihilated him. Kirkland's chis not great by any means, but it isn't glass, he makes up for it with tremendous resilience. Kirkland's a pressuring boxer puncher, which are rare these days. He can counter well, and use his jab to good affect also. And because of this, he will make it very hard for cute boxers to control him because of the multiples of angles he throws punches from, on the inside and at medium to long ranges. That's what separates Kirkland from other typical pressure fighters like Margarito and Angulo for example.

good fight for the fans.......i pick JK over Angulo. both are limited fighters but JK has a better upside. fighter need to watch Tito Trinidad finish an opponent the right way when he has them hurt. (angulo)

Was suprised Angulo punched himself out he's usually very patient. If Kirkland fights Sergio I believe it will be the same outcome as the Paul Williams rematch. Sergio does great against aggressive fighters, not so great against Patient boxers

Made several observations on that night.. After Angulo knocked Kirkland down, he should'nt have pressed the issue since Kirkland did not look that hurt..he basically punched himself out bad in the process, probably due to thinking it was going to be an easy night and maybe didn't train as hard, he never recovered. Looking back I dont think Angulo came in prepared like he should have..Kirkland came in top condition and dont think Angulo would've had a chance in the long run. Since Angulo is not as technically skilled, Kirkland looked very good in picking his shots and going to the body and head. Kirkland's training was on point, and I think thats what gave him the edge in this fight. Kirkland's chin is still questionable, but he will make for some very exciting fights.. Angulo missed his chance, it was weird pre-fight just seeing angulo sitting down relaxing while Kirkland was moving around and being active..that basically showed, at least to me who wanted it more..

Me and my pops were watching this classic together, before the first bell rang my pops asked, "who do you thinks going to win?" I said "if it's the Kirkland of old, Kirkland takes him out in 6, if the Kirkland of late, angulo in 8" and then the first bell rang, I knew instantly from the first combination James threw, he was back. He was already making Angulo very uncomfortable in the first 10 seconds,...And then BOOM! down goes Kirkland. My heart sunk for the dude, 'cause I thought surely it was over, now the next sequence in the round that happens is where everyone got caught up in the moment (including me until i rewatched the fight a few times) Angulo came pressing trying to hammer James out, but Kirkland is trying, and succeeding on catching Angulo in between Angulo's shots, which was intelligent, and in my opinion is what truly zapped Angulo. Not only did Kirkland show and prove his conditioning and heart, but he showed he could go up to another gear in the mid rounds when he started moving a bit and controlling the distance with his jab, he kept Angulo on the end of his jab all night, and in turn that kept Angulo on the end of Kirkland's combinations as well, James' timing, ability to counter and defense have improved, mainly his timing and ability to counter, but his defense has indeed improved somewhat. Kirkland broke Angulo, in his home country. Kirkland didn't need gimmicks or anything in his favor, he did it the old school way, and that in and of itself is of utmost respect. Kirkland proved to me he's top 5 in the division, and will give ANYBODY a handful in the division. If Golden Boy allows Canelo in the ring with Kirkland, at this point in Saul's career he would get obliterated in 3-4 rounds, he needs more time to develop. But nonetheless respect to Kirkland. Most people probably didnt see it, but JK put on a beautiful display of boxing in that fight, from rd 3-6 i was amazed by his boxing ability. Something i didnt know he could do. If he works on it, damm he may beat Canelo. I had picked JK to beat Angulo after seeing him spar that cruiserweight.
