I've disliked Mayweather since his "slave wages" comments and accusations the the HBO broadcast team were racist. Since that time he has done many things for me to confirm that dislike and now he's topped it off with a cherry. I the wake of Joe Frazier's passing Floyd couldn't just say some kind words and leave his condolences, he had to try and interject himself into the limelight by saying "My condolences go out to the family of the late great Joe Frazier. The Money team will pay for his funeral." What kind off jerk off does this? If you want to do a good deed than do it. Don't announce it hoping to get some recognition when the hour is squarely about Frazier and his family. This kid has no class whatsoever. :nonono:
Who else thinks Jab is taking this WAYYYYYYYYYYYYYY too seriously. I mean come on man, this is like PETA getting mad at the mario bros. franchise for having a fur suit powerup.
Doesn't seem Im the only one who was bothered by Floyd's words, my man. Doesn't seem Im the only one who thinks he acts classless more times than not. You're welcome to disagree with my opinion, but that doesn't mean Im gonna keep it to myself or change it. As far as taking this to seriously.....all I did was start a thread to share my opinion. I've seen several posters get downright pissed at me for having this opinion. Do you not think they're the one's who're taking this waaaayyyyy to seriously?

Floyd Mayweather's just a straight up pr***, he cares for nuttin in this world apart from himself and his family, with him coming first in his thoughts everytime.
Listen, i know enough heads dat r like this and i can see it in Floyd with everything he says and does.
Really he's a scared little girl that doesn't want to lose his unbeaten record, 'cos his f***ery claims of him being the greatest n dat bulls*** won't stand up and he'll lose bare pride.
He ent a patch on Joe Frazier as a fighter!
Well, dont be afraid to tell us how you really feel...
He could of worded it better but this is a good thing of him to do whether he's doing it too put himself out there in the limelight or not, Mr. Frazier will get a great funeral service now worthy of him as Chicanito did thanks to Mayweather.
I'm sure Frazier's family are happy with this as well, less money out their pocket in hard times and I'm sure a great service will help ease it somewhat.
I agree with the above.
Bottom line, Floyd did a great thing for the Frazier family.
I don't like the pictures or images depicted either that come with racial stereotypes, but those are racial agenda's talking. My opinion is based on no such thing. Im Italian and I can't stand Paulie Mallignaggi either. It's just my own personal perceptions and how I see things. I've been acccused of hating blacks, whites, Asians, being "self hating" and every other color or nationality because of my opinions and facts I provide about different fighters. But I dare anyone (Im not accusing you of this) to point out a single post where I mention ANY race in a derogatory way. Truth is, I just call it like I see it. If we talk about Floyd you will hear me question how often he fights and how his legacy could have been even greater had he chosen to ffight more instead of just for the highest pay day. You will never hear me question his talent or skills. I don't down grade him because I don't like him on a personaal level.!
I feel ya brother, makes sense. There have been a number of black boxers that I don't care for, hell a number of boxers period regardless of the color. Perhaps as I move forward posting I need to look with better eyes than I have been. I've been so obsessed with the Mayweather-Pacquiao match up that I have thought of little else in the boxing world, not like me at all but until fight happens or is definitively avoided, I guess I wait.
Thats tough to do nowadays because of boxings lack of popularity amongs the general public. It's haard to find other knowledgaable fans. Hit me up with a PM and I'll be happy to give my number and shoot the ****. If not, try the history section. We don't have the traffic or talk about as many current subjects, but the posters are much better overall and anything blatently using rrace to bait is deleted by myself. Peace!
This is true, I only know two other people that love boxing as much as I do. It's a shame too, because there are times when I want to discuss this statistic or that, or which promoter said this or that but most people will have no idea who the hell I'm taking about.
I'll hit you bro, for now, gotta go to work. Till then...
Peace out!
But I don't think all interpretations should be looked at in the same light, because that's tantamount to saying everyone's opinion matters and that simply isn't true. Some folks are correct concerning the thoughts/interpretations that they offer while others are not. Everything depends on how cogent the argument they offer is and if they can intelligently communicate that point of view.
I wouldn't say I'm "jaded" just really, really wanting folks to forget about personalities and just talk boxing. It feels really weird sometimes to read people writing racial epithets about Mayweather and I'm African American. I won't lie, I feel very threatened by language and pictures that depict Mayweather as an animal. I don't see why folks act like this, I just don't.

That's cool; I love to talk boxing as well, and prefer talking about it with a person rather than writing about on these forums.

At the end of the day this is a message board and most of it is going to be opinion based on what we read, hear and see. How we interpret that doesn't give you or me any more credibility than the other. I agree the general tone can get very hostile, but I credit that more to most of our passions for the sport than being actual *******s in real life. That of course doesn't go for everyone on here. You don't seem to be a bad guy nor poster, just a bit jaded from a lot of the rubbish that gets passsed around on this site because of the agenda's of certain fan bases. I could be wrong about that (you being jaded) though.

Maybe it does, maybe it doesn't. But Im ccertainly not just hiding behind a ccomputer to spew my opinion because Im afraid to let anyone see or talk to me. Im happy to talk boxing and willl give my number to anyone who asks. I'vve spoken by phone to more than a couple of other posters on these forums.

This is precisely my point here, we don't know the guy whatsoever, so in a free society we can form opinions about him, but we still don't know him. But from what I've read on this site, some folks think they know him, his family members, even what Floyd is thinking at any given time. I'm not so sure it's helpful to wildly speculate about a person, especially if it feeds into an Anti-Mayweather narrative that's based on nothing but statements in the media.
I wouldn't say my opinion is better, just less tainted. I don't clog up these forums with pointless threads that lack depth and I don't make threads to start arguments. In my mind, that adds some credibility to my case, not that it makes me right and you wrong but I think the point can't be missed that the general tone on these forums can be incredibly hostile and petty alot of the time.
I don't trust everything Floyd says and does in public, he's a promoter dude. He does and says alot of obnoxious things to sell his fights and nurture this "bad boy" persona. I try to focus on the fighter, not what he says, but what he does in the ring.

Lol, how is it shallow? I don't know him and niether do you. It's an opinion only and it is based on other past actions of his. You're saying Im entitled to my opinion, but at the same time you're cchastising it by calling it petty. What exactly makes your opinion any better than mine? Do you somehow know me better than most know Floyd through his own actions and words? I sincerely doubt it.

No, but in most cases Floyd has never been politically correct in his approach outside the ring and I don't expect him to be, don't think anyone should...personally. Can't change your mind on this issue but if it helps, mean no offense, it's gonna be hard to share your disgust when you think Floyd would be as vile as to use Frazier's death to big up himself :lol1:
Come on man, don't think your going overboard? I mean I've heard them all but that's extremely low...
I don't think Im going overboard, no. But I make no secret that I don't like Floyd or the way he acts. This is the image he has cultivated, this is what I judge him on. Right or wrong, thats how I feel.
To show I am not just trying to put up a biased front I just recieved the PM I've been waiting for. Floyd was not at the funeral but it was rumored he did indeed pay for it. This comes from Henry Hascup. If you haven't heard of him he a legit source and his credentialss back that..
If this is true it is a good thing. But it doesn't cchange my mind on the way he went about it.
Dude, you really are obtuse. What knowledge you may or may not have is mitigated by the pettiness of this thread. You are certainly entitled to your opinion as I am to mine, no problem there. My point was that making a thread about a magnanimous gesture by Floyd may indicate a certain degree of shallowness on your end, feel me?
I always mention Pac because more often than not he is the subtext and bottom line behind a lot of arguments on this site, even if it isn't immediately apparent. So I'll remove Pac's name but my point is still the same, this is a shallow thread; on a subject not many people care about except the "haters." They need anything to cling to if it affirms whatever negative ideas they may have about Floyd.
The subject doesn't bother me, on the contrary it's actually pretty amusing, because at any given time when I come on this site there's going to be idiotic threads about Floyd Mayweather. What these threads tell me is that some folks have entirely too much time on their hands. So no, it doesn't bother me, as most things don't on a forum filled with anonymous users.

Im not knocking him for anythiing more than his callous and self serving statement he made. I hate funerals and avoid them at all costs. But I don't make public statements and instead try and tallk to the family privately as to respect their grief. What happened with Floyd is no different than someone crashing a bar after a funeral where mourners are drinking and reminicing, and ttelliing everyone how he and the deceased were like brother, best friends etc.., etc. It's not only rude, it's self serving. Would you conduct yourself in this manner...ever? The only differenece is Floyd is a public figure with a PR team. That doesn't make it any bbetter though..

What does understanding the sport (and I'll put my knowwledge up against anyone on thesse forums, for better or worse) have to do with someone's opinion on a person who just happens to be a fighter? And again, what does Pac have to do with any of this? I know I haven't mentioned him, nor have I ever been a fanboy or excessively talked about him. Seems someone is trying to twist the subject at hand bbecause the truth bothers them. Lol, who's the groupie? :lol1:

I don’t know, maybe because it was a private funeral and only privilege few attended :smashfrea
http://www.boxingscene.com/forums/showthread.php?t=521506
Never heard of a private funeral with thousands in attendance.
Can only speak for myself but there plenty of people, goodhearted people too...who don't attend funerals. Me, been to a few as a kid and regardless of how close I am to someone, I don't intend on visiting their funeral god forbid if they pass. Not a reason to knock someone Jab...
