- 154 - Cotto vs. Kirkland - Who you got?

Cotto isnt a lmw plain and simple. That said he would land whatever he wanted on kirkland. It really comea down to cotto not being big or strong enough to keep kirkland off of him

I just mean that I don't know where Cotto is as a fighter anymore. It's quite possible he's about shot and we don't know, because he hasn't fought anyone of note since Pac destroyed him. If you're telling me Cotto still has left what he had going into the Pacquiao fight, I'm definitely taking him to beat Kirkland. I think he's got a lot left, at least I hope he does. I won't say for sure it's what he had going into the Pac fight though, that will take something out of you for sure.. But then again, what does margy have left after Mosley, Pac, and a career of absorbing punches before that, thanks to his style. I think the move to 154 for Cotto almost masks any damages he may have had from the Torrez, margarito, clottey and Pacman fights. (only fights he took a beaten). He's been super inactive though.

Cotto and margarito really won't make a difference. In there you have a durable pressure fighter with volume (and some bad thoughts that may reoccur in cottos head during teh fight). Cotto for sure. He has a different style than Angulo. Cotto's a better boxer and more technical. I think he wins a decision.

Cotto beats Kirkland... no doubt. Ortiz would be out-brawled by kirkland.

i'm on the fence on this one. but if i had to pick, i would lean towards cotto because he's just a better boxer. This is how I feel. Cotto is just a more skilled technical fighter than Kirkland. I'd still be worried about Kirklands power however.

Cotto's accurate and hard jab would neutralize Kirkland's advance all night long as long as Cotto has the stamina for it. Coupled with cotto's ability to work the body, Kirkland could be cringing in liver pain by the 9th. What? You're breaking down a fight using the fighters' skills, attributes, and tendencies and how they match up and not making a knee jerk reaction based on tonight's fight? Bizarre. But you're wrong! Kirkland beats Cotto because... I don't know... Miguel fights like Angulo? He's definitely not a beast like Ishida, that much is clear.

Cotto. Kirkland has the style to bother Cotto in the later part of the fight, BUT! Cotto is a very good counter puncher and we know Kirkland walks into shots all the time trying to get his own in. There's a strong possibility for an early KO/mid-round KO in favor of Cotto IMO. The only problem i see is Cotto not going for the kill after he knocks Kirkland down in the first rounds. I think Cotto should capitalize if he ever gets to seriously hurt Kirkland by using accuracy and speed, just pick his shots.

I said this before and after the Ishida fight, Kirkland runs through Cotto. Cotto would try to box and back peddle his way to a decision, but Kirkland's relentlessness, strength, and ofeense would have him put a savage beating on Cotto. It's a waste of time to talk about it because Bob Arum nor Cotto's team would never allow that fight to happen. :lol1: I GUARANTEE you that after watching the fight tonight, Bruce Trampler will be telling Arum to make that fight ASAP if Cotto gets through Margarito, which he should. I honestly don't see what Kirkland did well tonight that makes you think Cotto would be worried about him. Guy has no chin, eh stamina, absolutely no defense, no footwork. He's just a crude brawler with a glass jaw. Cotto boxes his ears off and ends the night around the 9th or 10th. Angulo is possibly the slowest JMW I've ever seen and he was landing clean shots on James all night, put him on his ass and almost put him out of his misery in the first round (after pillow fisted Ishida already did). Cotto's jab would rearrange his face and those left hooks to the liver would sap him of any gas in the tank, then everything after that is academic.
