From Steve Kim :
I'm told that they( NBC/Versus) will do 6 shows next and the license fees will be in the six figures. Folks, this is significant for #boxing

I think this is great, I was beginning to give up on #boxing on the
networks. I believe that other promoters will be involved.... #boxing
Even having #boxing back on Versus is huge, they are in a lot of
homes. This sport can just rely on HBO and SHO to grow audience #boxing
still getting details, but some of the fights will be on NBC, too. I'll get more info....
I don't know much more than what I've tweeted about this Main Events/NBC/Versus deal, I know it's been in the works for about 18 months
Wow. Great news for fight fans.
I don't see how this is big news. 100K doesn't do anything anymore and Versus had boxing before. Nowhere does it say NBC will 100% show fights.
We might get more FNF type fights, which is good, but it's not what boxing needs. They need BAD type cards on network TV which is probably more in the 7 figures per show than a measly 100K.
I hope this becomes a nice platform for Boxing and gets solid ratings. There is nothing more I would love than to see good competitive fights on NBC.
Main events has great relationships with all other promotional companies so I expect to see some good fights. If nothing more it gives more space soa BHop/Dawson type fight could get more exsposure.
Considering only 7 are listed on their roster I hope not.

Main events dont got no fighters wtf...Adamek vs bums.
My man onechance called this. Judah, Julio, and Adamek do not in any way need to be representing boxing to network television in America, but we aren't going to get those guys given the budget. Main Events doesn't have a large pool of fighters. Boxing on network television, with Tarvis Simms in the main event.

I don't see this going well.
Tbh as fan im very happy because there will be more TV dates, but overall if this is just a VS thing then it's honestly not a big deal. VS has terrible ratings, even the UFC struggles on there. So unless they bring it to NBC (which would be big) then its kinda a 'meh' announcement.
Sorry, but when the UFC is putting on their HW championship on Fox I expect boxing promoters to try harder.
What happened to HBO'c cross-promotion on TBS/TNT?...that would have been huge.
Agree. Time warner has to start utilizing their other networks for a broader platform for Boxing.

I would probably be one of the happiest people on the planet if that happened.
Those are all fights/fighters that aren't big enough to sell PPVs and would massively benefit from the exposure of fighting on NBC. Why not? How does having guys that would usually be on Friday Night Fights help boxing?
Fighters like Donaire, Rios, Cloud, Froch, Martinez, Ortiz, Berto, guys of that caliber are who I meant. Of course Mayweather and Pacquiao won't do it, but NBC shouldn't be aiming for that anyway.
You could have Donaire vs. Agbeko/Mares, Dawson vs. Cloud, Martinez vs. Pirog or someone at 154, Rios vs. Maidana, fights like that. Big, but not major PPV seller big, and almost certainly going to be very entertaining to watch.
They wouldn't want Ward/Froch, Martinez/Lara, or Hopkins vs. anyone on NBC, for example.

In this day and age, I think it's highly unlikely we'll ever see fighters who make millions fighting on network television, certainly not a Pacquiao or Mayweather. I think the best we can hope for is seeing fighters like Nonito Donaire, Brandon Rios, and Tavoris Cloud etc... young champions with exciting styles, who aren't making megabucks.

I did not know a thread was made about this. All the promoters should come together and make this series badass and do sick ratings unfortunately none of this will happen.
If this happens, it will only work if big names get involved. Some of these fights need to be PPV caliber fights, or this is pointless. Putting fights that would be undercard fights on ESPN would do nothing to help.

what the show about? What channel?I been watching the walking dead.
The show is on History Channel.
I expected nothing of this Top Gear USA since every time I go online people criticize it and I'm a fan of the UK version.
But still, I have to give it to them the show was hilarious.
Also, the challenge was to drive a 4x4 vehicle of their choice from California to Las Vegas, NV by off-roading and not letting the tires hit pavement/asphalt in certain areas.
Also, great choice of show Walking Dead should be supported like crazy but people should give Top Gear USA a chance it is funny.
So, we have something to watch since there won't be basketball this fall or spring next year.
And here I am becoming a fan of Top Gear USA.
Who watched the episode today for Top Gear USA?
I was laughing the whole freaking time.
