WOW. How many of 2011 big fights have flopped or failed to live up to expectation. Lets have a look.
-Bradley vs Alexnader
-Pacquiao vs Mosley
-Klitschko vs Haye
-Mayweather vs Ortiz
-Hopkins vs Dawson
-Donaire vs Naravez
-Klitschko vs Solis
Another thing I find IRONIC is that people hate Margarito with a passion but yet they depend on him apart from Cotto to make this a war that would save boxing apart from other major fights coming up. :lol1:
his and morales fights are usually the best too watch, floyds fights are the ones that have always achieved to dissappoint, lol, only reason i ordered the mayweather fight was morales was fighting on a undercard and he is a fukking warrior regardless of hes shot or not
I agree. However the smaller aka hardcore fans fights have delivered.
Hopefully we end up on a positive note for the big fights with the next two PPVs.
donaire's last fight wasn't a big fight.
His fight earlier this year against Montiel was a huge success, though.
Still got Froch vs Ward and a number of other good fights.
And there were plenty of good smaller fights such as:
Ortiz vs Berto
Brandon Rios vs Miguel Acosta & Antillon
Pawel Wolak vs Delvin Rodriguez
Hopkins vs Pascal II
Felix Sturm vs Matthew Macklin
Jorge Arce vs Wilfredo Vazquez Jr
Lopez vs Salido
Robert Guerrero vs Michael Katsidis
Marquez vs Concepcion
etc
Agreed. Great fights that were exciting to watch. Katsidis yelling, "WHAT ARE YOU LOOKING AT?!", before getting spanked by Guerrero was classic.
Bradley vs. Alexander was a big fight. Two kings of their division, both champions, both undefeated. But in the end, it was a lackluster fight.
Not even close to being a big fight Bradley is a marginal talent/overachiever and Alexander is a mediocre fighter and proved that against Kotelnik
Cant forget both of Khan's fights this year. IMO they were both pretty disappointing. Hopefully Khan-Peterson is good
Yup, and not to mention Sergio Martinez had a lackluster year after storming the scene last year.
It's been a hard year for us boxing fans.
But on paper, we have three fights coming up that should be wars and guaranteed fireworks (I hope).
Kirkland - Angulo
Pacquiao - Marquez III
Cotto - Margarito II
I think we should at least get one great fight out of those.
even though morales aint the same, thank god for him cause he was at war and entertaining in his fights at least, lol, morales will never fail to entertain
friday night fights kicked ass this year tho
Yup. ShoBox has also had some great fights recently.
I think it's been a great year overall, but it has been a very strange year for the big events.
this is why mma is gaining lots of momentum. The best are fighting the best and most of the fights are entertaining with a good undercard. Something boxing is lacking more and more(apart from gb making decent undercards).
P.s....this is about fighting sports in the u.s.
very true its a shame too boxing was the first thing most of us started with lets just hope 2012 is better

casual fans don't care about them fights.
they see one disappointing fight on ppv and say boxing is dead
