He says he still has has his speed and his legs and challenges anyone and everyone at 140 or 147, micheal marley holds a open media workout at gleasons

Valero's a smart man. Guzman's career has been a disappointment thus far. We could have been talking about a 4-5 division World titlist and top 10 P4P fighter, instead we're talking about wasted talent and a comeback without an actual loss.
Guzman's best win by far is the clinic he put on Soto. BUT, Guzman does not belong at 140 or 147. Can guarantee he will come 5lbs over whatever limit is set to anyway.
I remember that back on HBO Boxing After Dark, the fight was for Guzman's 130 WBO belt, and Joan really put it on Soto
such a disappointment Guzman's had all these weight issues, he coulda been a belt holder at Lightweight and most likely 140 as well, real bummer his career hasn't been more of a success.
The Campbell fight if he won could have really taken him places.
^ true, the fight wound up not even happening, and things have been south for Guzman since then. Total bummer that the dude has blown so many opportunities in his career

He let a good thing pass with his laziness and I'm not sure if anyone other than ESPN2 will gamble anymore and put him on TV regardless...
Thats why he needs to prove hes disciplined and his weight struggles are behind him.and hes been a welterweight on fight night since 2005! He just always shrunk down.now he hydrates to 150's.so i think he will carry the weight just fine if he stays in shape between fights.

I was digging Guzman until they robbed Funeka in the 1st fight. Haven't been a fan since.
That fight made me like him more cuz he showed balls, gave him an immediate rematch, came overweight but funeka cheated to make the weight, fight night both were same weight, guzman won with better gameplan.funeka cant deal with movement.then he fought a bum but he needed to fight somebody,he called so many ppl out and nothing, hes a guy that wont duck anyone atleast.he will fighz guys we would like to see him fight like maidana khan berto ortiz holt pac morales barrera mayweather you name it etc Hes called all of em out except for floyd
If the guy can actually make 140, he can certainly put damage on a lot of the guys in the division. Unless he's significantly declined, he has the talent/skills to fight with anyone at 140. The guy consistently can't make weight though. I'd be shocked if he could make 140 for very long.
I also wouldn't mind seeing him at 147. He's a tough dude. If he can't make 140, give him one or two at 147 then throw him in with Berto. Guy needs to get focused.
That's what I am wondering too. How much of a toll really did the layoff, weigh issues and indiscipline had. So I'm not sure I mean if we'll get a similar Guzman to the one we knew or someone who just don't has it anymore. I just gotta see him in action in 2 fights at least.
I wouldn't mind seeing at 147 either with all the intriguing names at the weight. I think that if he makes a solid comeback he could become a pest for a few fighters.
Remains to be seen. I personally think he is talented and he can make some noise but I am not 100% sure. He has the tools I think.

guzman is a *****. he missed weight vs campbell and nate still wanted the fight but he opted out lol. he never makes weight, he LOST to funeka, and is a bum will never do anything significant in the sport.
Just like martinez whos 37 ???

Guzman could have had some decent wins by now if it wasn't for weight issues. Soto, Funeka, and who knows where a win over Campbell would have gotten him. Too many setbacks at a age where most good undefeated boxers lose their 0. I won't be surprised to see Guzman lose to a not so great fighter, due to age, inactivity and being irresponsible with his weight in between fights. Hope I'm wrong though.
