Who wins and how? Considering putting some jelly beans on Donaire to win inside the distance at -289. Still smarting from the Hopkins ppv, I want to see what NSB thinks first! Poll to follow, please discuss! :boxing::boxing:
Ship it...
That was the bet to have on, good call.
2 to 1 on over and dude has never lost a fight and has been a champion for years although in smaller classes, you don't come across that opportunity everyday.
The fight is going exactly as I thought it would. Narvaez experience and defense will serve him to go back to Argentina with his 1st loss. Donaire's rate wins the fight easy.
Over 9.5 rounds +200. Might go up between now and fight time.
I like the value.
Well I put the last of my jelly beans(I have money already placed on Margs/Cotto) on Donarie inside the distance. Between now and about 2 hours ago, the line moved from -289 to -365. I did not lock in the better price. But I'll take the -365..
Actually, although you can see Narvaez surviving. What is your official pick? I suppose despite that being a possibility you might still be picking Donaire by stoppage?

if Donaire cant put away a 36 year old 5 foot 3 super flyweight then he has no business thinking about a fight with Gamboa or Juanma
Omar is a more elusive than Montiel but has far less power, a zero stoppage rate at superflyweight. That tradeoff along with age and size will produce the same exact result as Nonito's last 2 fights. Brutal KO. hopefully more than a 2 round fight though, Nonito needs the rounds to shake off the ring rust
Does Narvaez have a big punch? Is he the kind of guy to really come to win? Or come to win for a couple rounds till he finds out how good Donaire is, then just survive?
He's not a big puncher, short, stocky type. Pretty technical, likes to punch in combinations, rolls the shoulder and keeps his chin tucked in pretty well. Narvaez hasn't shown much to say that he gives up when he's faced with adversity, he went to France to beat Brahim Asloum, who was thought of as a bright prospect at the time being a gold medalist and all.
And he's been counted out before, people were saying Whitfield would beat him, he turned that around by basically dominating and breaking down Whitfield, then recently Seda was supposed to beat him and Narvaez got through Seda quite comfortable as well.
Donaire is a different animal though. Who knows? Once Narvaez feels Donaire's power he might go into a shell and get on his bike but I don't think so. I think he'll fight technically but he won't give up.
:lol1: I might be wrong, Donaire has been looking beastly lately and Narvaez might start feeling some urgency as the fight goes on feeling he's behind and get more offensive, which would leave him more open.

Hmm, you've thrown a monkey wrench into my decision making now. I was about to commit 30 bucks to this. Now no matter what I do, it will be in the back of my head that I'm either riding with Silencers or going against him on this. Hmm.

Narvaez is a more defensive fighter than Montiel, he doesn't put himself out there as much which leaves Donaire less chances to counter him with his quick hands.
Actually, yes I do. As I said above, he's a pretty good defensive fighter. It might make Donaire settle into a "I'll outbox him and look good another day" mode.

I was thinking the same thing before, but then again I think Montiel is better all-around than Narvaez and we all saw how that turned out.

Do you think Narvaez can survive to see the final bell?

No I meant I wouldn't bet on Narvaez, but with those odds I would. Very good deal if you ask me.
Oh right, sorry. It doesnt work like that over here, Donaire is 1/25 on but if you bet on Narvaez you on get 8/1 odds, £50 would get me £400 plus my stake back.

The thing is, sometimes when a guy is clearly headed for an execution. He doesn't fight the same way, and if he refuses to engage, it might be difficult for Donaire to put him away.
Donaire is too big and tall I think, Narvaez will probably make him look worse than he normally does though, he's a good little fighter.
Do you think Narvaez can survive to see the final bell?
He has average speed. Very good technically speaking. Very good fundamentals. Southpaw. Experienced. He is I would say a smart boxer. Nothing flashy, just wins fights. But then again I think Montiel is better all around and Donaire had no trouble with him at all. Also Donaire is a BIG 118lber and Narvaez is a career 112lber who just recently went up to 115lbs.
Suppose Narvaez gets hit with something early. Is there any chance he will respond to that buy running the rest of the fight? He's not impossible to hit clean is he? I'm feeling more confident in the Donaire stoppage, but I think I'll youtube the guy first to be certain.
