Do Pac and Mayweather realise how bad they will look in retrospect if they nevr fight

I think its hard to rate them among the real ATGs if they never have that signature victory agaainst one another. i think losing to the other fighte iin a close fight were they both display skills aswell as courage is much better than not fighting at all for the LOSER'S legacy. the reason i think it will happen is cause they might be trying to milk thier indivdual fame for wins on ppv against other fighters untill they are at the ends of their careers and a fight between them wold be one of their last fights but say floyd retires 42-0 or he fights pac and loses but wins on or two against pac in rematches that 44-1 looksmuch better and it answers the real question same goes for pac people can specualte and say "oh floyd WOULD have won" or "pac WOULD have won" but honestly that means nothing like i said earlier i and hopeful that it will happen but im sick of waiting and i dont like thinking about how bad the two of them look if they dont ever fight wht are your thoughts??? ( and for the record both are resposible for it not happening this thread isnt for debating who is more responsible)
