Dawson did the exact right thing, and I applaud him for it. I've been saying all day, I've been waiting years for someone to do that when Hopkins was trying his dirty sh**.
Hopkins came in all night with a straight right that would miss, and than he would try to wrestle and hold Dawson's head down. The last time he did, he ended up on top of Dawson, who gave him a shoulder and threw him off. If Hopkins injury was THAT bad for real, than fine. It sure looked like he could have continued. I better never hear a Hopkins fan say Vitali was a b*tch for quiting with a shoulder injury against Lewis.
I thought Hopkins looked like crap, slow, and old. He was unable to do much the first 2 rounds, and didn't look nearly as good as he did against Pascal. I think Hopkins should retire or they should fight a rematch. Hopefully the WBC demands a rematch.
With that said, Dawson didn't look like a world beater either. He was quicker and all, but for how slow and crappy Hopkins looked, Dawson should have dominated him. Dawson isn't that good, and Pascal should push for a fight with Dawson, as it would be a 50/50 and Pascal would have a good shot to win.
I hope Ward beats Froch and Bute at 168 (if Bute wants to fight him), so that Ward can move up in weight and school Pascal and Dawson to win the Light Heavyweight Title. I don't see anyone beating Ward at 168-175. Abraham, Kessler, Froch, Bute, Hopkins, Dawson, Pascal, and Cleverly...I think Ward beats them all. And Ward will move up to 175 in the next couple of years, he's a pretty big Super Middlweight and fought at LHW in the amateurs anyway.
Dawson had every right to slam him, but after the fight, he didn't entertain a rematch over a heavily controverial fight which will most likely be overturned was a little crazy.
emotions got the best of him....when things calm the it'l be made right..
I have no probs with what Dawson did...but at least Hop is discreet about his fouls..the shove was a lil overboard..but i can understand and dont blame Dawson for what he did

I would have done the exact same thing and I absolutely expect Dawson to react that way.
He obviously studied Hopkins and knew he was going to try tactics like that and was prepared to give it straight back like he's suppoed to.
Dawson was the old school fighter last night, not Hopkins.

yeah I do think Dawson was mad for real..and i can see Y...but if He thought Hop was avoiding him...call him out again..say " I think u faked cause u dont want none..and prove it by rematching me then" its simple instead I think Dawson at the time just wanted to run w the belts and hope the boxing world didnt see what happenend...i'm sure over the weeks attitudes will change...decisions will change..and it may happen again..
I personally think he was mad cause Hop was trying to get him disqualified or have a point taken off, and if someone did that to me I don't think I'd want to give them a rematch either, at least not right away. Plus it's not like he said he wants time off, he said straight away he wants to avenge his defeat to Pascal which he doesn't have to do seeing as he's (Pascal) coming off two lackluster performance against Hopkins.
I think refusing the rematch was more out of anger cause he believed Hopkins was faking. I think every one can agree that Dawson's anger after the fight was real.

If I were Dawson and I truly thought Hop didnt wanna fight...i'd offer a re-match...but no he denied it completly cause he knew he didnt want part...he needs to and prob will end up given the betls up...he didnt earn ****...and I saw nothing of him that impressed me..

Dawson did what he was supposed to do, at that time. But after the fight his interview was unbecoming of a boxer. There were no moves leading up to Hopkins injury that should have lead to a tko win for him & he knew that. He should have asked for a rematch then to set the record straight.
agreed..come to my thread and post that.
