I'm a big Marquez fan, but hell no.
At 135 of course, even 140.
But 144? I've seen how Marquez handles weight. Even if it were againest Mayweather or not, **** even a bum Marquez wouldn't look normallly.
Marquez can easily make 130 still. He has to build for 35 actually.
He has to build more muscle to think about being competitive. He'll be sluggish and slower. An easier target for Pac, and he won't catch Pac as often. If he comes lower than 144 or even 140 he'll be limping prey basically. This guy doesn't belong above 35 clearly. Slower, fatter and his punches look to have 0 effect. Doesn't look too goo for Marquez.
Marquez's plan is the same as the other two fights. Backpedaling two three mini steps and keep Pac moving all night. Marquez should concentrate on his stamina (his legs) and try to do the same as first two fights. Marquez should probably come in at lower weight. Move to plan B (a la Mosley) when things go wrong.
The fight really depend on Marquez's legs. His accuracy is still there. I am not sure he can backtrack with the proper speed and counterpunch well all 12 rds now. We all know his ability to get back from a KO at lighter weight. But I don't know how much he got on his legs. Hope he doesn't get hurt. Shane knew he was in for the $$ after 3 rds and knew he had very little chance and move to plan B. Hope Marquez does the same if things don't go well 1st three rds. If I were Marquez and I got caught on the rope multiple times like the Katsidis fight, time to move to plan B. DO NOT trade on the inside with Pac on the ropes. Marquez will get hurt. I don't think Pac will want to touch glove this time considering how much criticism he got for it. But could be interesting if Marquez's legs hold up. :boxing:
I don't buy the The Destroyer's hype. Not only do I think it's competitive but I think Marquez has a legitimate shot of winning.
All this talk of Pacquiao knocking out Marquez fast is nonsense.
I see this fight ending up like something like Vazquez-Marquez 4, Pac being Rafael, JMM like Vazquez getting severely cut up by punches and the doctor will stop the fight.
If the fight goes the distance, then Pacquiao sucks. This is a 2 year older Marquez than what Floyd fought. On top of that, Pacquiao has been active, Floyd was coming off 2 years of retirement. To add to that, you got the Ringling Brothers Freddie Roach and Alex Ariza going on record about a mid round stoppage.
he better be.. contract weight is 144 MAX. there was no minimum requirement. so he better came there where he thinks he is comfortable.
He'll come in at his comfortable weight.
Then everyone will make an excuse that Pac was too big at fight night.
You know how it goes.
It will be a short night and both will go on a night out San migs + karaoke.
I hope he does that

i hope it will be a competitive fight for the boxing fans to enjoy.......
i like both fighters...and 'am glad that jmm finally got a huge payday this time..
:boxing: war... pac-jmm :boxing:

what would be their fight night weight? a 4lbs difference?
marquez can come to the scale 135 as he wish if he thinks he is best at that weight. but even at those previous 135lbs fights, he came in at fight night at 145ish
pac on the other hand came on fight night at 148-149.
people seems to act as if pac was literally bigger than JMM by 15-20lbs.. :nonono:
both guys are lightweights and don't ask why not fight on lightweight then.. because any famous guy who is currently calling the shots would hate to lose weight if he have the luxury of not losing it.
this is not about physical size because if it is, clottey and margo would have won. this is about the size of the heart. JMM might not be able to beat the bigger guys pac fought but for crazy reason, pac can't really beat him so convincingly.
Im a huge fan of Marquez, and I gave him both of the prior fights. But he is slowing down, moving less, getting tagged more, and just too small to handle the jump up in weight (he fought Floyd under water.) I think this fight ends early by Pac stoppage.
Honestly from an objective perspective Marquez is out of depth at 144, as opposed to Pacquiao who is accustomed to the higher weights. We all saw it when he fought Diaz at 135, which was two divisions below his fight with Mayweather. Pacquiao should have at least fought him at 140, but him and his team decided to gain yet another advantage over the out of depth, and older JMM, which is plain bullsh1t.
Lets face it. What Pacquiao has done is great, which is why he is the p4p king. He has put in work, and has given it his all in the ring, which is all that we really want. However, Pacquiao isn't in it for the competitiveness anymore. He is a star, future atg, and politician. He could retire tomorrow and his legacy will be in place. It's all about the money right now.
Fukk this fight. Nevertheless, Marquez's style will always give Pacquiao problems. A lot of people speak of Pac's ability to fight bigger opponents, as a measurement of how Marquez will do against him. However, people fail to realize the stylistic differentials of the fighters Pac has faced, as opposed to Marquez.
Oscar, Hatton, and Cotto all used the left hand as there predominant weapon of choice. The left hook was there main weapon, and the jab for Oscar and Cotto. Pacquiao easily took that away by pivoting to there left, which left them exposed to Pac's destructive arsenal of punches. Re-watch the fights guys. The game plan, and dynamics of facing Oscar, Hatton, and Cotto changed, as opposed to facing Marquez whose main weapon is not consistent of the left hand, but rather a vast variety of punches. Pac can't move Marquez to his left, and expect to neutralize his best asset, as well as his ability to set up punches because Marquez will simply tag his ass with a right. The differential in styles is easy to see.
However, against Clottey, Marg, and Mosley the dynamics changed as well. Marg was a straight come forward fighter, Mosley was shot to sh1t, and Clottey's style was easily neutralized by Pac as Pac's punch output kept Clottey in his shell.
None of those fighters resemble Marquez's style, nor do there fights against Pacquiao give us a clue on Pac's ability to stylistically fight Marquez. Marquez should put up a valiant effort against Pac, but the outcome doesn't seem so bright, as he has the chips stacked against him.
Multiple personalities up in hurrr^^^^^^^
Not saying that Marquez is going to win but to dismiss that easily his skills and determination is not rational. Marquez is still a top p4p fighter and can adjust in a fight.
I don't think Pac is just going to walk thru him
I agree with this.
Im expecting a pretty good fight personally.
Theres a history between the 2 and im thinking that will influence both fighters mentality in the fight.
I give the edge to Pac and while its not the top fight I would want to see, im still looking forward to it. Theres nothing better than a big fight night.
It's hard to say...
In the first two fights, Pac was pretty much pawing with the right hand. Now he's throwing it with some velocity. That's important because Marquez wasn't beating him with speed as much as he was timing him.
When Pac pawed with the right and lunged in, he was running into straight right hands. What happens when the right hand actually becomes a weapon? He may be harder to time and if that's the case, I think it'll be tough for Marquez to win.
The thing is though, in both fights Marquez caught Pac enough to make him think twice before jumping in with that straight left... I don't know if he'll be able to do that this time around.
do you guys think it will be entertaining atleast? Margarito was raped by Manny but it was an entertaining fight cause he kept fighting and made manny uncomfortable at times
Yes, it might be a more one sided version (in pac's favor) of their first 2 encounters, though.

if pacquiao boxes, it's gonna be competitive. if pacquiao bull rushes the way diaz did, it's gonna be a short night.
Nah.. Marquez will be too slow imo. And I honestly don't think he hurts Pac at all in this fight. Crazy how that works now. It'll be like adamek fighting vitali in a way. Adamek is skilled and a good fighter but will actually be the smaller fighter. His pop won't do anything at WW compared to the effects it had lower.
