The interview is in Spanish but I've taken the liberty of translating the whole thing. No google translator or anything, just a pure meticulous process. Anyway, here's the clip and the transcript. In the video, Cotto talks about his upcoming fight with Margarito, tidbits surrounding their first fight, the handwrap scandal, and the new fight in general...
Keep in mind, the interview with Cotto was conducted a few hours AFTER Margarito had been interviewed in that same room so you'll see some interesting dialogue pertaining to that in how one of the DJ's happened to take a liking towards Margarito. If I receive enough replies and green K, I'd be happy to translate the Margarito interview as well. Here you go, my boxingscene brothers. Enjoy! :boxing:
PS: I've also taken the liberty of making some time marks whenever something noteworthy happens just so you can see the reactions when something happens or is said.
Transcript:
DJ#1: “My partners, my brothers…he is…Miguel Cotto!”
*Everybody cheers*
DJ#1: “This is my friend!”
Cotto: “Thank you for inviting me.”
DJ#1: “Take a picture of him with me! Take a picture! This is the man! Not
Margarito! Margarito with that wig he has on!”
Cotto: “Eric...(can’t understand what he says)”
DJ#2: “Can I get a picture with you too, Miguel?”
Cotto: “I’ll think about it. You’re gonna’ have to convince me before the show’s
over.”
~o~ Talking non-sense ~o~
DJ#1: “How are you, Miguel?”
Cotto: “I’m fine.”
DJ#1: “Were you listening to the interview on the way to the station?”
Cotto: “I listened to some of it.”
DJ#1: “Well, it wasn’t exactly an interview. It was more like promotion in
Margarito’s favor.”
*People start laughing* 1:06
1:13
DJ#1: “What do you think about Antonio Margarito? They’re saying that you know,
you’re crossing your fingers to beat him, that you’re still hurt over the loss…”
Cotto: “I’ve always been respectful, always professional in handling these affairs.
I’ve never made accusations or anything of the sort when asked about the controversy surrounding the incident when Margarito beat me in July 2008 even though…I have this…”
*Shows his cellphone to DJ#2* 1:38
DJ#1: “What do you have there, Miguel?”
DJ#2: “It’s a picture.”
Cotto: “That’s a picture taken shortly after they declared him the winner in that
fight.”
DJ#2: “Here we see that he had his gloves off, they took the picture, and we see…is that plaster?”
Cotto: “That’s a picture of the bandages which should only have gauze on them. Wraps should not break and there we see it’s broken.”
Female DJ: “He said that those things lose color over time.”
Cotto: “If you were to tell me that about the red spot, I’d believe you. The red spot could be color that seeped from the glove onto the bandages, but that broken spot in the wraps doesn’t make sense.”
DJ#2: “Well, it looks like a cast that’s broken.”
Cotto: “When you use gauze, you use it for the sole purpose of protecting your knuckles and one inch below your knuckles. You cannot place it on top of the knuckles. That is not permitted.”
DJ#2: “That looks like a crack in Aragon.”
*Cotto laughs* 2:38
Cotto: “These are the same wraps that were confiscated from him in the Mosley fight. When you look at both of them, they have that same red spot in that same area.”
DJ#2: “So they’re the same wraps he used…”
Cotto: “…He’s the only one that can come forward and say that. Nobody knows for sure.”
Female DJ: “He says that he didn’t feel any of your punches, that he, uhh…”
DJ#2: “He pretty much said that your punches are weak. He said that he must’ve had plaster of paris on his chin apparently because he couldn’t even get hurt upstairs with your punches.”
Cotto: “His face told a different story. You could see the damage I inflicted with legal punches…”
DJ#2: “Without plaster…”
Cotto: “No plaster…”
Female DJ: “Clean fight…”
DJ#1: “So…Margarito’s a dirty fighter?”
*Cotto holds his cellphone up* 3:15
Cotto: “The picture speaks for itself. I don’t have to say anything. The picture says it all.”
DJ#1: “But Eric was defending him when he was here earlier. He was all like, ‘Poor Margarito, he didn’t know anything and they suspended him for a whole year.’”
*People start laughing at DJ#2*
DJ#1: “They suspended him for a year, right? Who did they ban? Was it Robert…?”
Cotto: “It was…umm…Capetillo. Javier Capetillo. He’s the one who wrapped his hands. We are all boxers. We all know what’s being put in our hands. Every boxer knows what’s being put in their hands because you have to feel if the wraps are tight and compact or if they’re loose. When they tested his wraps, they determined it had traces of what’s related or found in Gibson board —
DJ#1: “Cement 3500…”
~o~From 3:58-4:18 discussing pictures of the wraps and contained evidence…nothing noteworthy is said here~o~
DJ#1: “So tell is, Miguel…how the handwrap issue going to be handled now?”
Cotto: “Bryan can explain it better.”
DJ#1: “Let’s ask Bryan…Bryan, come over here. Who’s going to be handling—
*Miguel reaches over to slap Bryan across the face, people laugh* 4:28
DJ#1: “Don’t slap the poor kid…”
Bryan: “The commission in New York will keep Cotto’s and Margarito’s gloves and wraps in a briefcase. They won’t have access to them until the day of the fight.”
DJ#2: “Who’s going to keep watch during the handwrapping process?”
Cotto: “We’ll send somebody from my team. Last time when I fought Margarito, and I’m not blaming anyone in particular, this is everyone’s fault on my team, is that, since nobody from Margarito’s team came to our dressing room, we didn’t bother going to Margarito’s dressing room to watch his hands being wrapped and…they took advantage of that.”
DJ#1: “Well, highly unlikely that’ll happen again. If he does try it again, keep a look out for a cement bag or something in the dressing room.”
*People laugh* 5:33-5:51
Bryan: “There’s a video on youtube called Cotto vs. Margarito called ‘Must-see’ where Francisco Espinoza, Margarito’s cutman, is asking Margarito ‘How’s the punch?’. Why would a cutman be asking Margarito how the punch is? Just something to think about.”
DJ#1: “You have to be careful, Cotto. You don’t want something like that to happen again. If that happens, I’ll jump in there and beat Margarito myself.”
Cotto: “Don’t get together with Eric .”
DJ#1: “I don’t plan on that.”
DJ#2: “Why are you picking on ME, Margar—I mean, Miguel?!”
*People start laughing out loud at how Eric confused Cotto with Margarito* 6:42
DJ#1: “He called you Margarito!”
Cotto: “He didn’t finish the name, but he almost did.”
DJ#1 (addressing DJ#2): “You know what? I heard you were carrying around a big yellow folder titled ‘Margarito promotions’.”
DJ#2: “What the hell are you doing saying those things on the air? I’m not rooting for Margarito! You’re going to get me in trouble!”
*Clip ends*
This is my autographed Antonio Margarito photo.... It was taken AFTER he was on the shoulders and was taken while he was STILL IN THE RING and BEFOREthe wraps were cut off.... There is no break or rip in the wrap...
http://i245.photobucket.com/albums/gg48/htowntexan08/1007112236.jpg
Now here is more proof that there is no rip or tear in the wraps.... Look at the picture posted and look at both of these photos and they are both photos of the left hand....

In plain view for even the most retarded Cotto hater to see.
Your evidence is fallacious.
Good read and watch Tinta, i appreciate the translation! :boxing:
This is gonna be Brilliant i cant wait for redemption! Btw im outta green will hit u up when i can dude
Other pics of the original have been posted. But they'll counter with some gauze in a plastic bag to prove Cotto isn't a quitting knee taking coward that disgraced his nation and family all in one night.
Taking a knee is a coward move when you've fought your ass off the whole fight? SMH... we got some tough keyboard warriors. Yeah I'm sure if you were getting pummeled to a pulp you would ride it out like a real man right?
Either way this "Knee taking coward" would made you crap your pants if you were ever in the ring with him. Funny that.
Cotto harbors some resentment towards Margarito but he keeps a cool exterior about the affair.
As for the pictures being posted in this thread, I'm actually confused right now.
I remember where somewhere during the next HBO boxing telecast AFTER Margarito's suspension, they took that picture (the one I posted) and AIRED it on live tv.
So unless HBO was taking random pictures off of the internet or actually altering those photos, they are legit.
I must admit, though...I'm genuinely confused about the whole affair now.
Because honestly, if I were to take a guess at which pictures are doctored and which one looks real, I'd have to say the one posted by HTown looks very real. And if it's doctored, it's a hell of a job. But I'll give him the benefit of the doubt, this ****'s got my head scratching now.
EDIT: Never mind. I took a look at a video after the fight. I saw Margarito hugging Captillo with the gloves off. The red spot is there at 7:56
BTW, HTown...can I ask you a question? Are you visible in the Cotto-Margarito fight? I know I've watched that fight like 10-12 times and there's a bald guy with a green shirt in the middle of the front rows. He stands up occasionally to cheer every time Margarito does something. Not sure if it's you, though.
That pic was originally posted online by HBO..

And you can see the break in the wraps in this video...
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8uxm-gDxVik
So unless HBO was somewhere being the scenes altering photos and videos, they are legit.
Keep owning them Maxx those fools are still in wonderland they like those women who get cheated by their men but stay with them because they are in denail.
That pic is photoshopped. It has been proven and I can prove it RIGHT NOW if you would like.

Oh wow, never seen that photo or his fist measurement before. That's awesome.. Pretty cool info. Thanks.
:D LOL okay cool. To be honest sometimes I make certain jab comments for fun and because I'm bored. BUT do not mistake I hit so hard lol.
Peace.
I'm actually pretty surprised by that photo because I remember seeing a picture before that fight with Pac where they were doing the usual boxing pic with their fists up, and I thought that Pac had a much larger fist than Cotto did. I will see if I can find that pic somewhere.
BTW I was watching the Margarito interview and it was just as interesting and entertaining. Can't wait to see these two go at it.. I expect a similar fight but with Cotto edging Margarito in a UD.

What a great interview really, a lot of interesting questions. Cotto is an intimidating guy and I'm not easily intimidated but he is scary lol.
Another thing.. Cottos hands are so small. I can't believe he is such a warrior and hard puncher.

WOW I didn't know that. So Cotto says that Margs team didn't send anyone to check while they were wrapping Cottos hands so Cottos team decided not to send anyone over there. HUGE MISTAKE wow.
