He still holds the record for most PPVs sold and highest gate revenue, if I'm not mistaken, as well as being the headliner in the biggest PPV ever. Plus all but 2 of his PPV fights didn't have a 24/7 like program pushing it or the sort of exposure guys like Floyd and Manny enjoy these days (the 2 that did produced 1.25 and 2.4 million buys). Safe to say he, Tyson, and Holyfield are (for now) the biggest PPV stars all time.
this guy is right. FACTS people. FACTS.
So far de la hoya is still the biggest ppv make maker in the history of boxing. followed by mike tyson. the mayweather fight helped DLH earn that top spot. i would that mayweather and pacquiao are headed that way. in my opinion mayweather will surpass DLH eventually.

A true PPV king is someone who's not even from this country but get mad PPV like Pacquiao. How can someone who's not even a US citizen get this kind of PPV...imagine if he's was a US citizen. All the other guys are doing good with their PPV but they are from this country so what do you expect.
I would say Oscar rates high no doubt, Oscar didnt need his oppnents to have a big following to have good numbers.
But I do think Evander has done very well so has Iron Mike.
Floyds numbers well all I can say is this, they have not proven that the movie tickets are seperate from the actual PPV #s so those #s can be questioned.
De la hoya never sold a mllion PPV's for a single fight four consecutive years. No one has except for Pacquiao. Ergo Pac is the biggest PPV draw and $$$ maker in history
Yes...could argue for Tyson too, he got rich twice.
I was too young to be around for Tyson fight weekends at the MGM so I dunno....but....I can only imagine how much money was floating around the casinos then.
Far as the 'feel' of the events in Vegas when I go - still think Oscar created a bit more excitement for his fight weekends than Floyd does now - but it's getting damm close. the crowds oscar brought in were amazing. I think Oscar had more intriguing matchups boxing wise, which also added to the luster of some of the events. not to mention he is still getting paid off boxing by making new fights. he can still sell a fight in other words
