I know it was only one round, but Solis won it and noone looked better than him against any Klitschkos in quite a few years and he gave Vitali something that he hasn't seen in quite a while, elusive defense and effective offensive bursts.
Thoughts:
1) If Vitali can't find any decent opponent (= Dimitrenko, Haye or Helenius. Povetkin would be the fourth name, but he is already scheduled with Holyfield...)for his next fight, a Solis-rematch is a must. I'm not saying Solis would hold up this well for all 12 rounds, but it sure would be more interesting to find that out than a fight against somebody that most haven't even heard of.
2) I start to really like the idea of Pedro Luis Diaz taking over Cotto's training. His resumé as amateur coach for Cuba (and Dominican republic for a short time, with Felix Diaz winning gold in beijing) is amazing and he has good pro experience with training Solis (making him look good against a Klitschko, even if only for a round) and also helping Pascal, whose managers credit him a lot for the performances against Dawson and Diaconu.
Margarito as a fighter might not be hard to figure out, but he is not really made for Cotto, even without plaster, so he might need a good gameplan here, and Diaz sounds like a master tactician.
Vitali Klitschko video after his 1st round knockout win over Odlanier Solis
"I was inside the ring and I saw many, many times on video - the fight, and there is only one clear answer. I prepared the punch, half uppercut/half hook. I prepared this punch and I feel that I hit him pretty hard. Solis was knocked out, what happened after that, where he breaks his ligaments or his knee - it's his problem. I'm sorry the fight was so short. The next fight, I promise not to hit my opponent for the first three rounds, and then I'll knock him out. With Solis there are no excuses, this was a knockout punch"
in before the retards...
sanders also won one round vs vitali, what happened after that? exactly
or
that was a legit ko
or
how did solis win if he got knocked out
ur welcome
Thank you, that prepared me really well. :D
I am a Klitschko-fan myself, I think they should get way more credit for dominating the (weak, but still) heavyweight division the way they do, especially Vitali, who keeps incredibly fit at his age and beats up undisciplined people who could be his sons...
But the reactions you can get from hardcore fans is priceless. :D
When I said Solis won the round, it means for me, and for quite some others, he was winning the round until the knockdown, which was more of an injury than a devastating punch. And even if not, because the round was close and like I already stated one can't conclude that he'd perform like this over 12 rounds, BUT for the very short time of the fight until his knee gave up, he looked like a live opponent, which is more than you can say about any other Vitali-opponent since 2004. And I would heavily favor a rematch over the likes of Stiverne, Welliver, Boswell and some others that the WBC have in their ranking.
For those of you who like to call other people retards and prefer to have arguments such as "OMG Solis would totally KTFO old-ass Vitali in a rematch, but chicken Klit is ducking him, because he got dominated until the injury", knock yourself out.
As for people thinking that Pedro Luis Diaz has done nothing in professional boxing, educate yourself and read up on how highly Jean Pascal and his handlers think of him, since he joined their camp and helped him on his wins against Dawson and Diaconu.
Ahmet Öner is among the least likeable people in boxing, that much is true.

Your basing your opinion on a single round in which the trainer in questions fighter was knocked out. And on what someone did in the amateurs.. Aka a completely different sport than professional boxing.
This thread is honest to god bat sh** crazy. Period.

he sure prepared Solis vs Vitali. for 1 round? rofl his body collapsed on himself in less than a 1 round. now what are you talking about?
I just want to punch some of the boxing fans. complete retard
Before the fight I thought Solis High guard defense was going to give Vitali hell. Solis is a master at blocking jabs. If it wasn't for him being so damn fat I think he would've beaten Vitali.
Yeah, and that was the fittest he ever showed up for a professional fight! At least he could motivate himself for the fight of his life, but all this wasted potential, the guy was enormously talented as an amateur (beat Savon for example).
