I think a key for Pacquiao is trying to counter Mayweather if he does his leaping left hook. I think if Manny catches him correctly when he throws that he could knock Floyd down.
Another key is to try and steal rounds with flurries if he manages to trap Mayweather in any corners. He should watch out with his lunging in as the Marquez fights showed and he will have to make sure he doesn't get frustrated as he has looked annoyed when previous oppenents start to move alot.
The straight right from Floyd is something I don't see Pacquiao being able to stop. Margarito and Cotto weren't keeping good distance and/or were lunging so Pac was in range and with his handspeed he would always beat them to the punch.
What impresses me about Mayweather is how he throws off-beat so its hard to time. He can shoot that right hand before he is visibly set to throw, whilst still remaining in perfect balance. That makes it almost impossible to time, because he can and will throw it at any moment. I also see Mayweather bringing back his uppercut and jab (not so much vs Ortiz) which I think are tools he is intending on using vs Pacquiao.
It will be interesting to see how Manny deals with JMM this time around - I think Roach may want Manny to go some rounds with Marquez to get used to fighting a counterpuncher again and prepare himself for a Mayweather showdown.

Manny's counter right hook is underrated IMO. Something I def. believe Floyd will underrate.
Havent you noticed that Floyd moves when he does his right to avoid a counter

agree, Floyd drops his left hand when he shoots that str8 right.......
Look at Mosleys Defense that had Pac confused...
:scared:
Manny looks amateurish with an old shot Mosley , Floyd will school him and make it look easy , no wonder they avoided anyone with a bit of speed and skills his whole career .
Floyd throws his right from distance. I dont see pac hitting Floyd with that counter. Its possible, but unlikely.
Floyd is too damn fast. He reflexes, his footwork, his punches.
Pac will have to go after Floyd like he wants a quick KO. Then i can see Pac outworking him. Floyd retreats under pressure, and only throws punches when he thinks its safe. If Pac is really going for it, with those multiple straight shots, it will be hard for Floyd to find chances to throw.
But Floyds speed overall will frustrate Pac, and Pac will throw less.
I'm glad to know that we still have people who can analyze fight strategies instead of getting caught up in excitement of punches exchanges and ignore the tiny things that makes the huge impacts. Great post, sir.
The TS used footage of Margarito, one of the slowest, most telegraphed punchers in the sport today, to predict what would happen when Floyd (one of the fastest) and Manny fight...

duckqiao is too scared of the test..he's a dirty fighter who hides behind arum and his lawyers...stop talking about that cherry picking catch weight fraud..concentrate on the real clean champs out there.
Where was that workrate in the fights against Marquez? He didn't get over 650 in either fight if I am not mistake. Why? Because Pac can't deal with a smart counter puncher. If Marquez can do it, Floyd can do it twice as good and as easy. At the bare minimum, Floyd can fight him as Marquez did in both fights and do a better job at it. And, Floyd's stamina is just as good as Manny's.
First of all, you can't say if Marquez can do it, Floyd can do it twice because these two fight totally different. Marquez counterpunch in combinations and not afraid of getting hit back while Floyd counterpunch with one punch then moves away besides Pac was a limited fighter back then and some said he was weight drained in those fights. Floyd can afford to counterpunch in combinations but in able to do that he must stand in front of Pacquiao and hold his ground to deliver his combinations. Now the problem is....in doing so, he will risk himself of getting hit as well. You see, while Floyd doing his punch combination to Pac, you can't expect Pac to stand there but will also deliver his own power punches combination. We already know Pac has the chin to withstand Floyd punches but the question is...can Floyd takes Pac punches? In this exchange of punch combinations Pac should win because he can throw faster powerful combination than Floyd. In this case, once Floyd tasted Pac's power, he will revert back to pot shotting and Pac can beat him by just activity by throwing much more puches. If Pac can finish Marquez this time quickly by impresive ko. Those "if Marquez can do it, Floyd can do it twice better" can be throw now out of the window.
