Lol and Floyd was also in his absolute prime when he fought Mosley? And he was at his prime weight class at 154 when he fought DLH?
Don't discredit Floyd when he was calling those two in 2005 and even before, but Bob Arum wouldn't do business with DLH because he had a grudge against him after DLH left Top Rank. Same with Mosley being a GBP partner, that's why those fights didn't happen. Floyd was more than willing to get in the ring with both of them in their prime and get two good pay days. Best thing Floyd did was leave Bob Arum. The fights might have happened too late, but they happened, and Floyd won them both, and combined the fights sold an estimated 4 million PPV buys. That's a lot of viewers for a couple of fights against opponents that are now discredited on his resume, but were boogie monsters before he fought them.
Nobody is blaming him for taking those fights but its the truth, they were well past their prime. Nobody is saying they were prime when Pacquiao fought them. Problem is for Floyd, his biggest wins, Manny matched him easily. Matched and then some really.
DLH didnt have as much left in the tank at 34 as most. DLH had a much harder career, he fought much better competition, with a more crowd pleasing style. Floyd barely outpointed him at 34. A prime DLH would have fought him at 147, with better reflexes, more speed, stamina and power.
What would have happend, who knows but its easy to see.
I agree and understand with the politics of boxing and some of that might be true. However Mayweather hasnt had the past of seeking out great competition, I dont think that is whats holding him back much. If DLH was in Floyds position, he would have already fought Cotto, Margarito and Pacquiao. Right now would be probably working out a deal with a huge fight with Sergio Martinez at 154.
I feel it would still be close..mayweathers new tactic of fighting toe to toe would force a lot more exchanges between the two and more opportunities for them to land some solid shots..also de la hoyas jab would be a lot more effective fighting this version of may that doesn't use his legs as much..would be interesting at 154 of course...147 it would just be ugly
And Pacquiao fought those guys when they were even further past their prime. You cant say they were old when Mayweather fights them and turn around and act like they were cream of the crop when Manny fights them. Double Standard
Lol...
For Floyd
Hatton: Too short, too small for Floyd
DLH: Too old, past prime
Marquez: Too small
Mosley: Too old, past prime
For Pac:
Hatton: Perfect matchup
DLH: It was just a big money fight, it's okay
Marquez: Come on it's a trilogy
Mosley: At least he knocked him down
Watch, if the Mayweather-Pacquiao fight happens next year, and Floyd wins. People will say it happened too late and a prime Pacquiao beats Mayweather. But Mayweather at 35 years old is completely fine, hasn't missed a beat, is still prime. Lol. A 35 year old Floyd vs a 33 year old Pac, will be two past prime fighters going at it, but only one will get credit for beating the other, and that's Pacquiao.
Mayweather only fights boxers past their prime he would get his a** knocked out by a Prime DLH and Mosley.

It would be even closer then it was last time. Yeah Mayweather won but it was close, in no way did he dominate.
Mayweather is lucky he fought DLH when he did, he barely outpointed a past prime 34 year old DLH. Had Oscar been in his prime, 29-30, he would have won.
Same could be said for Mayweathers fight with Mosley. Mayweather fought him at 38, and well past his prime. Had Mosley been in his prime, its very possible he KOs Mayweather in that 2nd round.
