Since it is common knowledge now that heavyweight wins only count if the opponent has always been a heavyweight. You can't eat, or weight train or put on weight to be a heavyweight. So this is a list of Ali's true wins at HW.
1. Duke Saberdong- 17-16, went the distance against Ali. Won rounds against Ali as well.
2.Alejandro Lavorante- Ali fought coming off a loss where he was hospitalized by 84 year old Archie Moore. 19 wins, 5 losses. Never won a fight after the Moore beating.
3.Charlie Powell- lost 5 months earlier 25-11 record.
4. Buster Mathis- Coming off a loss. Ali couldnt KO him. After Quarry beat him he never won a legit fight again...Weighed 20 lbs more than his previous fight. Fat, coming off a loss, never won another real HW fight...
5. Alvin Lewis- Coming off a loss. Terrible. Won rounds against Ali.
6. Ken Norton- arguably beat Ali 3 times. KO'ed by Norton, Shavers, Garcia...won probably 55% of the rounds against Ali, broke his jaw like a b1tch.
7. George Foreman- Fought him in the Congo...Refused rematch. Tons of shady stuff in this fight.
8.Chuck Wepner- once lost 6 times in a year and a half. Whyd he get a title shot? Oh yeah, golden age. Won rounds, knocked Ali down.
9.Ron Lyle- Coming off of a loss. Again howd he get a title shot?
10 Alfredo Evangelista- Coming off a loss 14-1-1 record...GOT A TITLE SHOT.... Golden age. Oh and he went the distance and won rounds. hey when you lose to lorenzo lazon and have never fought outside Spain and have 14 wins...you deserve a title shot...in the mid 70's golden age
11. Trevor Berbick- forced Ali to quit and retire in shame.
So there you have it, Ali had 11 fights against true heavyweights. ie. non blown up cruiserweights.
Ali had 5 ko's against these guys, 3 of which in late rounds. In total there were 15 fights. 3 against Norton, one against Berbick, and the only legit wins are Lyle and Foreman...Outside of Norton, 8 of Ali's 10 wins against real HW's came against guys coming off of losses.
Also there was no cruiserweight division. These guys didnt cut to get to sub 200, they naturally were that size...Tommy MOrrison has a better resume against real heavyweights.
