HORUS PRESENTS: Everybody Hates Mayweather, But How about HEADBUTTS & JOE CORTEZ!!
Sorry for the Wait !!! However, I am at a stage of my life where alot of my attention has to be on other things besides boxingscene.com. However, I hope you guys enjoy my thoughts, and share your thoughts as well in my thread.
FACT: Mayweather has fought %60 if his fights, in championship fights
FACT: Mayweather has fought 5 times in the last 5 years!
FACT: This was a bold and good move by Mayweather to select Victor Ortiz as an opponent
Ortiz Lost this fight before it even Happen!!!
'Taking a Break from Training Camp'
1. The first sign I knew Ortiz was going to lose, is when he wanted a break from training camp, while his opponent Floyd Mayweather Jr. was in Las Vegas having 3 training camps per day. When I saw that, I told myself Ortiz is already quiting on this fight!!!!
"Ortiz letting Floyd intimidate and choke him."
2. Very the very get go, Ortiz was in submission to Mayweather. He address Mayweather as "Mr.Mayweather" as if he was Mayweather's subordinate, or student. He and his team was constantly trying to find ways to build his confidence, bringing in Oscar De la hoya to give him advice on how winnable this fight is, and that Mayweather is not that scary. But the ultimate sign of Submission was Ortiz allowing Mayweather to CHOKE him in front of the entire world of people who were watching the weigh in. From then on, I knew Ortiz was in full ***** mode, and he was there to be fed to the Lions so to speak.
Joe Cortez Needs to be FIRED!!!
Joe Cortez let this fight get out of hand from the very get go. Ortiz from round 1 was headbutting and fouling and Cortez refused to be "FAIR BUT FIRM."
Furthermore, when the Ultimate foul happen, which was a intentional headbutt which cut open Mayweather lip. Joe Cortez failed to even deduct the correct amount of points that should have been deducted. If Joe Cortez would have done his job that night, we boxing fans would have seen what I thought was about to be Mayweather-Gatti 2!! Or at least Ortiz pushing Mayweather to his limit, and forcing Mayweather to either throw combos and fihgt, and get overwhelm with volume punching.
THE BIGGEST MISTAKE CORTEZ MADE!!!
The biggest mistake Cortez made during this whole fight, was not following the rules of intentional fouls.
Intentional fouls Rules
1. If an intentional foul causes an injury, and the injury is severe enough to terminate the bout immediately, the boxer causing the injury shall lose by disqualification.
2. If an intentional foul causes an injury and the bout is allowed to continue, the referee will notify the authorities and deduct (2) points from the boxer who caused the foul. Point deductions for intentional fouls will be mandatory.
3.If an intentional foul causes an injury and the injury results in the bout being stopped in a latter round, the injured boxer will win by TECHNICAL DECISION if he is ahead on the score cards or the bout will result in a TECHNICAL DRAW if the injured boxer is behind or even on the score cards.
If Cortez would deducted Ortiz 2 points, and allowed the doctor to come into the ring and check Mayweather's cut in his mouth. I believe the fight would have continued and Mayweather would not have be given the opportunity, to capitalize on Ortiz inexperience. Futhermore, Ortiz would have hopefully stop headbutting, and cheapshoting Mayweather. As a result, we would have got to see what was turning into a action fight.
My Personal Thoughts Overall Of The Fight
"Disappointed in the ending"
I was personally satisfied with the outcome of the fight, but however I was not to happy how the fight ended. The fight ended in a way, that ultimately did not live up to the standard of a megafight.
"Victor Ortiz is WEAK "
Victor Ortiz showed that he has alot of growing up to do as a person and a fighter. He is out of control, and he is going to get himself or someone else seriously hurt. The guy is just weird, he has this happy go lucky sufer boy attitude that seems so fake to me. Overall, he has too much talent to have that weak of a mentality.
'No Young Great Fighters that can beat Mayweather like in other eras'
Floyd Mayweather is past his prime, and his age is starting to show. He is lucky he fights in this era, and a young terry norris is not around to do him like he did Sugar Ray Leonard.
"Mayweather not using 100% of his talent and skill"
What makes Mayweather great is that he understands the basic of boxing better than anyone he has ever fought, or will fight. Mayweather is winning these fights by using only 70% of his true talent, and it is a shame that we are at a point of his career that we will never know what Mayweather using 100% of his talent and Skill looks like. Floyd Mayweather is my favorite fighter, however as a fan I feel cheated that I can honestly say only once in his career I have seen him used 100% of him using his talent and skill!
