I voted Cotto. We don't even know when Margarito started cheating because I highly doubt he decided to just start against Mosley especially when Cotto had beat him already. Maybe after the Paul Williams fight?
everyone can say whatever they want.. now it turns out that Margarito is shot and it wont be the same fight then the one in 2008?? is that what your saying.. im not basing my statement on stewart working a miracle with Cotto, Cotto is an overall better boxer than margarito is!!! Margarito is a wallllll all he does is follow you around the ring and hope you get tired so he can throw his slow ass punches you can see amile away!!! lets see how his gonna do it without his plaster this time...is easy hitting someone with a damm cast and say you got punching power. one upper cut aint gonna do all that damage he did to Cotto, is obvios he had something on. And maybe Stewart will make Cotto stronger, but what im saying is that his goal is to bring the old cotto back. smarter and uses stragedy to break his opponent.. his gonna go in there and give margo a boxing lesson guarantee.
I'd say Margarito did probably have something in his wraps. I don't think it made a big difference though. The style and size of the fighters is bad for Cotto, and moving the weight up only makes this a better fight for Margarito. Cotto's face melted against Pacquiao as well, I think at this point Cotto's punch resistance is actually more deteriorated than Margarito's. Maybe I was seeing things, but I thought I saw Cotto's knee buckle against the only punch that guy landed against him in the Yankee Stadium fight. Either way War Cotto, but my Money is riding with margarito.
ok guys lets be serious here.. this is an article
"Margarito's claims that he didnot "see" what his trainer Capetillo was placing on his hands was totally untrue, and ridiculous. Having been a boxer for 11 years amateur and pro, you are "face to face" with your trainer as he is taping your hands, and you could see clearly how and with what your hands are being wrapped. There is a growing believable suspicion that grandfathering some of Margarito's past fights, his hands could've been doctored when he k.o.'d Kermit Cintron twice, and Golden Johnson, and in his previous fight with Cotto, Cotto indicated in an interview after the fight that after the 7th. round he felt that Margarito's hands felt harder and heavier than in the earlier rounds. So, was Margarito also cheating then? Your guess is as good as mine."
So you are then basing Cotto beating Margarito not on the notion that Margarito is shot, but that Steward has or will turn Cotto into a stronger fighter. And enter this fight with a better game plan?

as far as im aware, margarito still throws alot and takes alot. He is very close to his prime. However, strangely, his punching power seems to have all but dissapeared, he couldn't put out a C class fighter and got destroyed by a lightweight.
You have no idea what his eye will or won't let him do. Not once did Margarito stop pursuing Pacquiao, and there has been no fight since in which Margarito didn't fight as a result of his eye. You have nothing to base that on.
He said the eye could cause the fight to get stopped, not that it would discourage margarito. You gotta realize not everybody is Laurence Cole, a decent referee would have stopped that fight by the 8th round or so.
margarito used to throw around 1000 punches per round he also had one of the most durable chins in the sport
now he has slowed down and his eye wont allow him to completely ignore defense without a serious risk of the fight getting stopped

i said to myself so many times why he didnt go to the body at all.. he didnt even tried once.. ive watched that fight so many times and he just went upstairs all day didnt bother going to the body which would make sense that he goes to the body being that his shorter and would break him down and slow him up... this fight is defenately going to be different.. Emmanuel Stewart said it along time before Cotto lost to Margo that if he would get his hands on Cotto he would be one of the greatest ever..

lol yeah i hear you... stylistically the matchup will always be bad for cotto, i wonder if we will see a margarito that doesnt necessarily take the same punch he used too.. after mosley and pacquiao it wouldnt be out of the question
I found Cotto to look a lot more discouraged at the end of his fight with Pacquiao.. Margarito was still trying to stop Pac in the round Cotto was stopped. I guess we'll see how much of a punch Margarito can take, but I think Margs' orbital bone will be just dandy!
i remember cotto being interviewed after the marg fight and he was asked why he didnt goto the body at all, he said he just didnt see openings for the body, i wonder if he ll be able to find any this time around, i think it will be vital to slowing down marg... if he cant slow him down it will play out exactly like it did before

I feel like Cotto's agility and punch resistance has decreased somewhat. Margarito never really did anything great besides being tough and throwing a lot of punches. From what I've seen, this has not changed.

The only way to measure how bad they are is to see how they perform after the beating they took from their dad. We have seen Miguel fight twice since then and we can see that he his hand speed and reflexes are slower though that could possibly be attributed to the higher weight. We have yet to see how Marg looks after his beating but we can speculate that he will have similar effects. So without knowing how Marg is going to look after his beating from his father, I'll guess that Cotto is not as past it than Marg.
I honestly think you could make Margarito wear an eye patch and cut off his nose and he'd still keep chasing Cotto. Of course his depth perception would be impacted, but he'd keep throwing.

i think Cotto has had a lot more recovery time from his losses than margs, i wonder how that orbital bone will hold up
