Before you guys get your panties in a bunch, disregard the title of the video. I have been browsing randomly through youtube watching highlights/post-fight interviews/promos for the past hour and came across this.
I knew that the guy was expected to be big during 2006-2008 and it all derailed over weight issues and whatnot but damn...looking at this highlight clip, what a waste to see that promising guy end up knocked out of rankings or any relevance in the sport. :S
He looked so good and is now fighting in his hometown for much less than he could've had if he had stuck to his guns and continued to get big fights...his speed was incredible.
Pacquiao would have ****ed him up, this is the same guy who lost to Funeka. Did Guzman even have a belt?
2010 Pac hell yeah, 2006-07 Pac, if it makes you sleep better
Funeka got robbed the first fight, but I think Guzman won the second time.
It's funny how not 1 of his power punches knockeddown or KOed a fighter in that video......LOL!!
You also didn't notice him getting KO'ed either.
I wanted Pacquiao to fight him at Lightweight instead of David Diaz.
When Pacquiao was at the Lightweight there were a lot of heavy punchers in that division and Top Rank chose David Diaz.
Juan Diaz was a good choice too.
I would never question a boxers motivation without good reason but Guzman without a doubt wasted his talent still though he is undefeated and at 35 can still make some noise in boxing. There is vid of Edwin Valero i think saying that Pac was the guy he wanted in the 130 lb divison because of the money and Pacs superstar status but he said that Guzman was better

BOO HOO GUZMAN COULD OF BEEN SOMEBODY BUT HE WASTED HIS TALENT LE CRRRRRRRRRRRYYYYYYYYYYYYYY
The guy lost either his ability or desire to maintain proper fighting weight and became a slob. Too bad, because when he fell off, 135 was stacked and he looked poised to take over. I thought he was going to clean up on Campbell when that fight was put together, and that's when he started fucking up. He missed out on that fight and hasn't been the same since. The guy wasted his talent. He could have done a lot more.

Our Good Old Friend Bob Arum said he was never impressed with him. When he was shooting for Pac Bob said because of a weak victory that he lost his opportunity to fight Pacquiao. ARUM is ROTTEN FOR BOXING!

IT'S A CLEAR DUCK!
Ah yes Joan Guzman great talent ,But has had weight issues that has REALLY affected his career. I remember for awhile he was mentioned for a fight with Pac Man.
ah guzman, yes he is quite the enigma.
i don't know how old he is now but he's a terrible waste of talent, one of the most skilled fighters out there but with serious motivation issues
35.........
what's his name?
Oh, my God dude...did you see the video?
Mentioning the boxer just takes the purpose of watching the video and seeing his highlights of speed and whatnot.
Give you a hint, terrific handspeed, so-so power (below average), good defense, fought at 130 where he had a match against Humberto Soto.
He's now had issues with weight and fought against Ali Funeka...he was also scheduled to fight Nate Campbell but he couldn't make weight.
Very easy one...
I'm just shocked at how this guy could've had maybe 3-4 big fights before sliding down into irrelevance. Such a shame he's already 35, ain't no coming back from that...
