Ok we all know or have an idea of what Canelo was trying to accomplish, it seemed that he was practicing different styles, from shoulder roll, to counter puncher, to power puncher, etc..
but as he was experimenting, he was losing a few of those rounds, and when the interviewer asked him what he was doing that made him look so different and losing a few of those rounds, he arrogantly answered "No se que pelea vieron ustedes." (I don't know what fight you guys were watching) like if it was total domination..which it clearly wasn't. But he got the W in the end, like it was expected but he acted as if he completely shut Gomez out, and we all know that's far from the truth!.
I had Gomez winning when I initially thought that it was gonna be easy work. I guess if he was experimenting then that might explain but I do think that stoppage was early
Exactly, not too many rounds clearly won by Canelo except the first where it was 10-8..
but like I stated in another thread, I thought it was premature at first too, but when I saw the ref walk Gomez over Gomez stumbled and was on wobbly legs, and then I knew it was a good stoppage, it wasn't gonna go much further before Canelo did more damage and put Gomez away.
Well when your not being hurt by your opponent it can be hard to tell if your losing sometimes.
I'm sure when Canelo looks back at the tape he'll see differently.
Agreed. I was watching the Canelo fight with about 30 people who really dont follow boxing and the kept swearing Canelo was losing. I kept saying, "He's not getting hurt at all. He just taking his time. He does this in all his fights."
And then when he laid into Gomez, I was like, "See, I told you."
