I think it was at the beginning of the 3rd round, Floyd opened up with a vicious combo that looked Sugar Ray-esque. I haven't seen him let his hands go that relentlessly since his lighter weight days
does anybody have a GIF of this sequence? I tried doing a few searches but I keep getting a Boxingscene database error. thanks, green k if someone finds that GIF
man looks great when he lets them hands go
aren't you guy who raped ladyboys in jail?
who said you can talk?
or that your input was of any consequence?
Yea.. without the power... SRR was on a whole other level of course. First time I have seen Floyd throw a combo like that in a while, even if they were powder puff punches.
definitely. they can both flurry with similar speed, but floyd has chronic hand problems and sugar ray had hands like rocks and longer, leaner frame which was fully utilized for punching leverage
SRR was damn near 6 feet tall in an age where the average middleweight was 5'7 with stubby little arms. He also fought a lot of no names in his bum of the month club. He also has 16 losses compared to floyds 0
Now look at mayweather, average size for welterweight and no bum of the month club.
IMO that's what makes him greater than SRR
That combo was impressive but one of the many differences between the 2, is that Robinson had absolute dynamite in his fist. Look at the combo starting at around 1:28. It looks like a similar combo but ends with a brutal KO.
as he should! whats so wrong with that?
if you miss a shot and the opponent doesn't capitalize, then follow up and maintain the pressure, right?
It wasn't one shot though was it, It was like a whole 5 hit combo he missed, and victor ortiz isn't exactly a willie pep in defence either. If I was floyd i would be concerned.

robinson would knock ortiz cold for many minutes if he hit him flush with a hook when he wasn't protecting himself
if he somehow stayed up and took the right hand after it he'd probably have a broken jaw
ray robinson is arguably the most potent offensive fighter ever
he was scary powerful
floyd's a much better defensive fighter
(robinson opened up very often, and established a reputation for having the best chin of all time at WW)
but robinson's offense makes him look impotent by comparison
I agree with all this, nobody can touch sugar ray, he is the maestro
but I'm just saying, Floyd's combo was so effortless and fierce it made me think of sugar ray. props to floyd for showing some of that michigan fire
Will you upload that Angott fight, sir? In VOB of course.
you can watch it online here
if you want to add some SRR to your collection contact Craig Szondy at ragingbullboxing he will hook you up, this is his info

was that after he threw that 5 punch combo that hit nothing but air? mayweather was probably embarrased by that and had to make it up.

Did you guys read my thread? I'm just looking a GIF of a 5 second sequence where Floyd threw a multi-punch combination that looked Robinson-esque
trust me I have tons of SRR on DVD, all the way back to the Sammy Angott. I know SRR

thanks man
those were beautiful uppercuts.
whether ortiz was hurt or not, nothing looks worse to the judges then getting hit with an extended flashy combo.
